So spät kommen Wei Zweifel.

Hm. The end of the book differs in its character from the previous part of the whole trilogy. I feel like Hobb missed a few things (on purpose?). I'm in the final chapters, but some questions are still open. Like, how did M&W react when they found out about K? And why was Ephron against the trade with the rain-jungle-people? The way it was explained previously was lacking. And how is Wintrow valuable to Amber??

Omigod I hate this person with a K! Hate it so muuuuch!!!! This person is very clever at manipulating and oppressing its partner and others and this person really showed its true colours now. Fear is a bad teacher!!!

There were moments, in which my eyes did tear up. It wasn't because of the love between two adults, but because of the love of a mother.
I finished this book and I liked it. I wish I had more context to some informations. I think the reader can only grasp sybil's character as much as she's fond of herself in her letters. That makes her character somewhat unreliable, but the gaps are filled in. Not closed though.

I do not understand this woman :( I can comprehend a few things, but ultimately, I only understand her daughter, Fiona. Sybil says one thing and does another. I'm sure the author intends to frustrate the reader, and works towards a point where everything will fall into place, and then finally, I will feel compassion. But that moment hasn't arrived yet.

Sybil embodies many of my preconceptions about a certain type of old lady. And she's not the cute one. I enjoy reading her correspondence, but it somehow makes it harder for me to recognize the relationships behind the names. And I've read some epic fantasy where others were struggling.

Pretty sure this book and therefore this first trilogy is about to end, after what ai never could do. I am sad. So much has happened. But just as Fitz said, no one was to blame, but no one was blameless. It had to happen, apparently. So grateful for the depths and all the life I got to experience with these first books and I feel like, I have to read it all over again to fill gaps, that would now close.

A sudden realization that really strikes me. This person identifies as a sacrifice to this realm. So I understand, but it just makes me sad and I understand his wife even more... I hope it doesn't come to that.

progress at 50%: CE-LE-BRATION! Oh my goodness! A most unsuspected reunion! And the emotional depth oh my word! Fitz, you have come a long way and I'm glad you arrived exactly there.

First 10%: Wow this really drags me down... but this is how these books often start!
20% in: Fitz! Grow a grip, I beg you! And you're making me cry :,)
30% in: Fitz, I love you dearly, I care for you, and thank you Verity, it was dear time. I miss Fitz' companion tho and I would love for Fitz to learn more about his many gifts already, but he's on the way

I'm not entirely feeling it yet. Sybil seems like a very entitled and condescending lady, but I really like the style of partial insights the reader gets through her correspondences. I'm interested in Daan and want her to continue the never ending letter, she doesn't send.
