Gah this goddamn Dutch book why why why

I'm fine with the trend of not using quotation marks in novels, in fact I prefer it, but the way this author and I think the book Angel Down start every paragraph and nearly every sentence with "And" is grating on me a bit. I am still enjoying the book so far

I'm whipping through this sucker so fast that the people reading it with me in my King group are way behind me. So I'm resting for a bit. There's a creepy guy but this isn't horror, at least not yet. King certainly has some characters I'm rooting for.

I'm enjoying looking up each cathedral mentioned and of course, as with her other book I read, there's a murder mystery pulling me through

Reminding me of Out by Natsuo Kirino

Going from Katie Kitamura's Audition to this book has to be the strangest segue ever but I adore Bob the Drag Queen so welcomed it. It is of course laugh out loud funny... I mean if Harriet Tubman was going to rap, you know she'd rap, "I wish a muthafucka would!" Every picture of her looks like that is what she is thinking.

FINALLY

This book gains momentum then loses it, has amazing chapters then ones I want to hurry through.

I'm getting a kick out of the sexist matriarchal spider society

There's a chapter in this that would make a fantastic novel. I think this hasn't gotten as much attention as it should among horror fans because she's not known as a horror author. She should be.

Well this is charming and I am laughing out loud, but my brain keeps trying to compartmentalize what I am reading, to define it, which is sort of meta because that is all the main character does about everything around him.

When this book gets dark it gets dark! Im not sure how I feel about that being mixed with humor.

wonderful surprise so far, well written and propulsive

Love it so far but ooooof bleak

This is the book I wished Heart The Lover was.

Good so far but reads very American to me, not sure why.
