I thought this was going to be a heist book, but I’m almost a third of the way in and nothing. It’s a lot of satirical, observational stuff so far.

I felt a similar way about The Survivalists. It’s got interesting characters, but the pacing/plot feels kind of off. Maybe the books are being marketed wrong to make me expect plot?

What is happening here? This book reminds me of Shirley Jackson’s Birds Nest or Hangsaman.

THIS is the memoir I want to be reading.

I’m pretty fascinated by this so far.
