Kinda wanna stab second second ML in the eyeball for being a sleaze.

Okay I couldn't help myself and continued this book, and finally I got some sweetness. Like a minuscule amount of it. Sweetness being some actual connection between the main leads where they're both on the same page for once. But the second second male lead (the "nice" one) is starting to seem like a sexual harasser now.

It's gotten a ton better! I'm cackling my head off at, "Hoarse! Hoarse!" And, "1234234!" 😂

Okay here we go. The fifth time trying to read this book because I have a hard time getting through the beginning part. The female lead's inner male soul is such an a-hole I just want to kick him. The sad thing is that I'm afraid his thought process is rather typical in real life so it's depressing. I hope this book gets better soon.

I'm surprised at how slowly this book is going. Unlike the last 3 books which kept my interest so thoroughly that I binged them all one after the other, my attention is wandering during this one. Too much internal monologue in the middle of "urgent" conversations and action scenes. Also, the MC is making some really stupid mistakes especially after all his intelligent reasoning and hard-earned caution previously.

Still not much has happened, but the writing has definitely picked up!

So much tell, not show. /smh

And now the grandmother. I'm so pissed.

This book is making me mad. There's been some really stupid decisions made by supposedly experienced, feared people. And when it'd be suspicious to dawdle with people literally waiting to arrest him, the guy takes time to banter with his colleague and have a nice chat (which at least has some relevant content) with someone. And almost literally nothing happened so far. Weak start.

This girl is deranged.

This whole thing is a mess and I don't know how to feel about it.

I think I see where this is going and I want to cry. God save me from stupidity. None of the characters so far are close to lovable.

The "romance" in this book is as slow as molasses and not in a good way. 1/3 of the way through and all I get are superbly bratty girls and a guy who can't get a grip on them.

I'm rolling my eyes so hard. When will this book be done? I'm only 1/3 of the way through. Not sure I'll last.

I like the female narrator's voice a lot. The male one is okay. I like these characters but it's moving too fast. They literally just chatted like 3 times with barely anything personal and she told someone else that they talked about a lot of things. I'm getting the vibe that in the author's head it's moving a lot slower and more fully than it actually is. 68% left to go though, so there's room to develop things.

Maybe it's the hormones, but these books infuriate me sometimes. No one is helpful. Prophecies prophecies etc. we're going to let these pre-teens and barely teenagers go off on their own with no backup to fight monsters with scarcely any info. Sometimes I'm holding onto my suspension of disbelief desperately by one single strand. I can't wait to get to later books when they're older.

I really hate the "little did I know, that'll be the last time blah blah blah" gimmick going on in these books. I love it as a device in the movie Stranger Than Fiction, but when I'm actually reading a book, it just bugs the crud out of me. Is this going to be a trend in this whole series? I dread the thought.

These are 12 yo kids! How am I supposed to take this seriously with a straight face?

If Hades turns out to be evil in this series I'm going to give it such a big stink eye.

Reading this for the first time as an adult. Not quite sure if my irritation is because of my current mood, or that I'm too old for this perspective, or all the typical "you're not ready to know this yet" stuff for our very young protagonist, or that I've been spoiled on his parentage through social media osmosis, but all the "Who could my father be???!!" spiel after all the hints is driving me up the wall.
