Come on, St. Martin's, copyediting is not the place to skimp on your budget. Romance readers deserve an error-free experience too. Reign instead of rein, gate instead of gait, and more punctuation errors than I can count. Usually books have already been through the copyedit before ARCs are sent out, but I can only hope that this one was rushed through before the copyedit because it's a mess.

I'm in a slump. I've tried to start four different books this past week, and I can't get into any of them :(

Oh, wonderful! He sleeps with his housekeeper too. I'm about to throw this book against the wall...

Gotta say I'm not a fan of the hero rhapsodizing about how obsessed he was with his former mistress and how amazing the sex was--all of this after he jilted our heroine at the altar. Not sure how much of a "hero" this Sparrow is going to turn out to be...

I'm beginning to think I'm not going to get what I want out of this conclusion, and that makes me sad.

Why does GR keep adding times read to books I've only read once and thus throw off my challenge tally? It's very annoying! Happening to anyone else?

I feel like I missed a novella or short story that took place between books one and two. If there's not one, there probably should be. What's up with all this backstory?

All right, peeps, help me out. I was super excited to read this book and all my friends are loving it, but I am soooo bored. Do I keep going? How much longer do I give it for it to start getting good?

This book has some serious, and I mean SERIOUS continuity issues. And I have a finished copy. I can't believe they weren't corrected before this was published. I am loving the description, the characters, and the time period, but I am getting so distracted and confused by these errors that it's really hampering my ability to enjoy the story.

I'm so not happy with you right now, Mary Pearson. You're ruining everything! Why? Why are you doing this to me?

This is breaking my heart. I can't help but feel like this is not how it's supposed to be. If this is how things stay between them, I'm going to be soooo angry.

I am LOVING this! But I've been in a pattern lately with YA books that start off great and fizzle out. Fingers crossed that this one breaks the streak!

This author obviously does not like the South if the insulting, narrow-minded and extremely antiquated assessment her character makes on page seven is anything to judge by. I'll keep reading, but if this attitude persists, I'm out. I see enough ignorance in real life. I don't need it in my fiction.

New pet peeve! Trending: reviewers who say the book would have been better without the romance...in a romance novel! Um, huh??? Then why are you reading romance in the first place???

Did I miss a novella? The way it's written, I feel like I'm supposed to be familiar with what happened between the prologue and chapter one...

She left home to draw her own story. All you can do is draw your own and hope that one day she sees it.

I am loving this!

Just saw another reviewer savage a book for having the audacity to depict rape. Historical fiction. In wartime. She doesn't think rape should ever be included in any book. Because, you know, it never happens in real life, and we should never, ever talk about it or its effects on a victim. Keep wearing those blinders and living in your ignorant bliss, girlfriend.

I'm amazed at the number of authors who still don't proofread their book blurbs. It's the first impression a potential reader has. If your all-important three-paragraph blurb is full of errors, why in the world would I take the chance that your book is any different?

Somebody help me out here, because I just can't believe that Gortner would not know his history. The medical community did not discover that mosquitoes carry disease until the late 1800s. So how does Lucrezia know this in 1493? I had this same quibble with the TV show. i can find no reference to an earlier Italian discovery. Am I missing something?

Man, I can't believe it is taking me forever to get through this book! I devoured all the others. It's moving so slowly, and there are so many POVs, including the android's. I mean, I love Iko too, but an android's POV? Come on!

I really hate when a reviewer gives away the ending of a book in their opening line. Grrr!

Damn you, Stephanie Thornton, for making me love characters and then taking them away from me!

I'm in a reading slump. I've picked up five books in the last two weeks and nothing is catching my fancy. Boo.

First time for everything: A publicist just told me that since I only rated a book 3 stars, I can't feature a guest post from the author on my blog. Oh well. Their loss!

How can a book of this profile get all the way through the publishing process without anyone telling this woman she's using Y'ALL incorrectly? Y'all = you all. As in more than one. It cannot take the place of YOU. Which is singular. It's making my brain hurt!

I'm amazed at all of the people who have nothing better to do than attack reviewers of a book they've decided is offensive without even reading it. I don't like to use the term "troll," but this week I have discovered that it truly does apply to some people. What a waste of time to spew vitriol at strangers over A BOOK when you could be doing something positive with your life.
