I enjoyed this book. Started with a Kindle and switched to an audiobook. I read a few chapters with my father, who was a business-minded guy, at the hospital a month before he passed away. He enjoyed it. Then my daughters and I kept listening to the chapters on our rides into NYC since we were commuting for the school year. This book, beyond its packed and timeless wisdom, has a warm spot in my heart.

I loved this book. I lost my father a few months ago and could really relate to Michelle's story. I enjoyed her writing style and her clear verbiage around complex concepts, such as culture, family, and belonging. Having spent several months in Seoul for business, the Seoul parts were certainly vivid for me, I could really imagine her growing up visiting, eating her way through, and connecting with family.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the first half better tbh. But overall I'm glad I read it. If you feel slightly nostalgic about undergrad friendships and a constant gaping hole in your heart for Europe, you'll enjoy.

Great book, love Arad's writing and this is no different.

meh. not my favorite Straub. didn't relate to the characters at all- they felt very shallow/ not enough dimension to them. there were a few nuggets here and there but it wasn't as captivating nor as enjoyable as the vacationers and modern lovers.

so far it's OK but certainly not my favorite Straub novel. The secrets are too obvious, the characters not super reliable. Meh. Continuing on as it's part of my book club.

Loved it. Couldn't put down. A middle life crisis meets present day PC environment and questions some of the fundamentals of academia and social structures. It was a fun read and unpacked some thought-provoking topics.

A stunning read. So thoughtful.
