One very helpful, clarifying nugget I got thus far is that having an avoidant or anxious attachment style doesn't mean that it is some inherent feature of the person. Deep down, avoidant and anxious styles have the same attachment needs to feel loved, seen, and understood, but the strategy that they use to get their needs met when they feel their relationship is under threat (real or imagined) is different.

I love how YNH weaves seemingly disparate types of information into a narrative that connects them and uses each element to deepen the understanding of the other!

Feeling disappointed and a bit uncomfortable...
I find the way Richard Schwartz presents IFS and the way he bashes other therapeutic approaches off-putting. Thus far it feels like a sales pitch for a new religion/philosophy. If it weren't for the fact that I know that IFS is a robust theory grounded is empirical research conducted by many other scientists other than Dr. Schwartz, I would've probably stopped reading.

Ugh! There is some useful information here but it is laced with so much fluff that I'm having a hard time get through the book.

Well, the good news is, stress probably doesn't cause cancer. The bad news is, working the night shift for long periods of time increases the risk of breast cancer because this causes the body to produce less melatonin over time. What about night owls who stay up for fun? I think they probably have an increased risk too, though probably not as big as night shift workers. So, go to sleep early friends. :)

Boy oh boy, this book is stressing me out about how much stress I have. And now I'm stressed about stressing out about my stress... 😅
