I overestimated how far I was in last update. I’m downgrading how I feel because this woman is so stupid. She’s treating the H very poorly. I don’t care if she gives “forewarning” but then leads him on. Stupid stupid woman.

The book’s not bad and has a good message. I’m just not connecting emotionally.

Finally getting into some twists and I’m intrigued about the husband’s picture not matching the picture on the tv. I thought I had it vaguely figured out but now there’s a new wrench in what I think is going on.

I don’t know if there’s going to be some big reveal about Brock, but Millie’s treatment of him is ridiculous so far. She’s so childish.

So I think the book is well written but there’s just some things I’m not a fan of. A frequently used phrase is “I don’t get you” in places where “what do you mean?” makes more sense. Odd this just a thing of when the book was written or is out this particular author’s quirk? The writing can sometimes be disjointed and I don’t understand the conversation the characters are having.

Listening to audiobook. Was teetering on 4 - 4.5 stars. for the majority of the book listening to the author read in a detached manner and sarcastic at times was just a little off putting. Then hearing her describe the revelation she encountered during her therapy session, and she takes a breath and you can hear the emotion in her voice to keep from breaking, broke my heart.

So close to DNFing. Yes, this series is outlandish and secondhand embarrassing at times, but referring to your dick in third person and naming it? 🤮

So much better reading it than listening to it. Still some childish things but not bad at all. Really enjoying it and swooning some.

Listening to it currently. This is definitely one that should be read instead of listened to because the narrator just sounds lifeless. Very flat with not much inflection.

Listened to the audiobook. Another one I didn’t really care to finish. I liked the guy’s narrating voice but I just didn’t like the execution. I don’t even think I really liked the writing. Just way too much for me.

Listened to audiobook. Clearly I lost interest since it took me 8 months to finish. It was better than the last book that I didn’t even finish. I’m just not that interested in them. It might be partially due to the writing or maybe it’s too dark for my liking. Maybe we’ll see how the next book goes.

Also, I’m listening to it instead of reading it. The female isn’t bad but she reads it in a way that makes me hate the female character more. She doesn’t make her more likable. She reads it in a little bit of a quivering voice. And the male is generally good, but the moans/sexy noises are not sexy! They are laughable.

let me just rage for a minute. This woman is such an unsympathetic character, I almost can’t stand her or empathize with her situation. Her boyfriend is so far not the bad guy & she does all that to him? I don’t find it erotic, it’s despicable. Maybe detail will be given & he’s a bad guy but she doesn’t know that right now & that does not give her a pass to act like a spineless teenage girl!

So much yes so far! Now we’re getting started on a real good story. Hopefully it continues to be that way!

So far not a fan of “oh my Tchaikovsky”

Listening on Audible. It’s cute so far and the narration is pretty good. Not sure why it’s not rated higher on GR, so that makes me wonder how the story is going to go.

I wrote a whole little progress review. Don’t know where it went. In summary, it’s getting better. The writing is very flowery and sometimes distracts me. At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about the chemistry, but then it’s getting there. Female was/is slightly annoying, we’ll see if she matures.

Shake my head at h. I empathize a little bit, but come on! Don't push him away. That's a little frustrating.

I can't wait for this book to be done. So much unnecessary drama and internal dialogue struggles of being "Easy GiGi" (listening to book so I don't know how she spells it). I feel for the girl, but when she had a perfect opening to tell him and didn't... I'm over it. Been over it. So childish, I didn't like the first book either but I thought I'd find this more interesting with the stepsibling dynamic. Nope!

Chapter 10

Arggh. I don't know what to make of this book yet. I'm getting tired of waiting for what the big deal is about Cal. I have an idea, but I don't know for sure. Anyway, it's getting frustrating.

Still not feeling a connection with these characters. Just trying to finish the book at this point.

Not really invested with characters so far. For some reason, I'm just not digging them as a "fake" couple and their reasons for doing it.

1) The amount of disdain for FBI and criminal profiling is dripping off every page. This takes the form of two doofus FBI agents. If it wasn't so heavy handed, I might've laughed a little. It also doesn't help that I love criminology and am fascinated with the work of the initial FBI Behavioral unit.
2) The audiobook narration is too theatrical for me, but I was able to get used to it. I hate the female narrator.

About an hour left in the book and I just want to echo what other people have said about the immaturity of the MCs. The h is one of the MOST aggravating characters I've read about in a while. This story just drags on and on because of the characters not communicating. The H isn't better; a very unhealthy relationship.

The narrator is okay. Story decent so far, though.

My faith in books is restored. I am LOVING this book.
