Okay so as a former little girl who had (and has) a wild imagination — prone to nightmares — this is actually going to be a daytime only book.

The dread is amplified for me

Alright so we’re 108 pages in and the book is making very little sense.

- is Erin playing with dolls and pretending they’re real?

- if not when did everyone become plastic? And why?

- the world is post-nuclear war — war her father was old enough to recall (refugee, labor camp survivor) — the timeline feels compressed for that to be true

- is this the lit equivalent of banana taped to wall being “art”

If this were a high school party this would be the part where id call my sister to come pick me up bc whaaat theeee fuuuuuuuck
