आचार्य रामचन्द्र शुक्ल ने हिन्दी कहानियों पर विचार करते हुए यह कहा था कि ‘जिस प्रकार गीत गाना और सुनना मनुष्य के स्वभाव के अन्तर्गत है, उसी प्रकार कथा-कहानी कहना और सुनना भी’.

वो खिलौने, वो दिन, वो बातें जिनसे हम बने होते हैं, वो कभी लौटकर नहीं आते।

‘असल में हमें उन्हीं चीज़ों के सपने आते हैं जो हमारे पास नहीं होतीं।’

घर की इज़्ज़त और लड़की के प्यार में कितना गहरा संबंध होता है, ये पहाड़ा हर उस लड़की को रटाया जाता है जो पढ़ने के लिए अपने घर से दूर जा रही होती है.
