Neferata, the first Vampires and Skaven, good, good.>:3
It did only take Lee 15 pages to make another error, even within his own constructed lore. Ohwell.

The reverse Watson and Holmes are great.
I loke Rossane, but having the first thing she does be fainting and wobbling around on weak ankles while two of the men fawn at her is eh.
The scrying visions are cool.

Okay, so yes, it's a Jack the Ripper story.
No, it's not really a murder mystery in the sense that we get to know who the murderer is in chapter 2. Interested where this goes. Bit of a barrage of character introductions though.

Always great when storytelling makes you comment on shortfalls and mistakes and later on acknowledges these things in the plot and character arcs.
Love how everyone, both allied kingdoms and necromancers, are coming to grips through experience with the new realities of war with an indefatigable, mindless undead force that grows with every death.

Alright, I'm finally getting into it.
Indara and Vern's interactions are nice, but having Deva, Ty and Jay-6 interact like that instantly made it THR.
The story itself isn't that gripping still, but the characters and locations fun; kind of like Out of the Shadow.
Also, I feel Justina poured a lot of herself into these two protagonists.

That was a cool battle and all and perhaps one of the more tactically sound.
Safe for the fact that that last bit could have been done at the very start and pretty much take out the leadership.
I don't know how they thought they'd beaten the sorcery when none was present so far.

Alright, I'll try to dive into this again...
Really want to finish it so I can continue on to other SW novels I've lined up.
I'd hate to DNF it.

I get that loss of and miscommunication are at the core of this story.
But holy hell are these people being unreasonable asses.
Makes it look like Vatta is nothing but a name and family busyness; they sure as hell aren't connected out of goodwill and kindness.
It's thorough and deep seeded character work. Impressive, but frustrating.

What a fantastic chapter that was. Great job of making an otherwise quite fast succession of plot points and introduction of characters very memorable.
Also, quite weird that Slotter Key apparently has no clue about the state of the galaxy and its communications outside of their system after half a year.

Hey look, I made it past the 40% on a book.
This reads so easily, so well paced. Gripping bouts of action sprinkled in-between the negotiations, plotting and humdrum of space travel life.

I love how slow and meticulous Moon's storytelling is.
It's taken 2.25 books to get to the heart of the matter, to set the challenges they face and set up Ky as its catalyst to take them head on.
I feel this is only going to get better from here.

2 years waiting before continuing the series was too long. Had some trouble getting back to the story that picks up right after the second book.
But it's great to be back though, Moon's writing is so comfortable, detail oriented and tactile.
Once again, love how slice-of-life it is with all the system-specific laws, culture and bureaucracy.

I'm getting kind of frustrated with this. The world building is good, the dark power scary and the unique city states and their leaders are becoming compelling.
I like it and I'm invested but these sloppy inconsistencies are starting to crack my suspension of disbelief.

Tony and the Beetles is a quick, dark story about humanity's eternal strife and conquest. The need to take, expand, exploit through violence.
There might be nods to the American Civil War in there too.
And it's all wrapped in a young boy's hopeful day of laying with his friends and dreaming of larger things.
Quite a gut punch.

Alright, that was some seriously messy writing.
Switching between west-east mess up.
Inconsistently mistaking the Zendri oasis battle for Zandri.
A general sense of the author not being fully aware of the topography of the land.
This is especially glaring in contrast with the meticulous writing and planning going on with Harrow.

Weird. Describing the alliance of southern and eastern kings as western...
Also, making bronze with a copper-nickel alloy.
Otherwise, enjoying it, love the focus on the story and characters now and the involvement of the Druchi, tying back to the Darkblade series.

Definitley not as engaging as the Malus books, but nice.
Glad to have some story building now, I like Arkhan the incompetent general, but a succession of tactically questionable engagements was growing a bit stale. Want to see more of the -1900s IC timeline, dumping us into an era where Nagash has already accrued considerable power isn't very interesting plot wise.

Gods Muir can write. Dancing through thick theoretical necromancy jargon and mechanics while lightening it with razor sharp jabs, dripping with venom and character and mixing in the ever present existential dread.<3

Really enjoying it, fantastic writing once again.
Seeing different POVs and angles from previous events is decently common in novels. I don't think I've read one that partially rewrites the previous book in the series.

Feels so good to be finally reading more Lee.
Reading that he started this right after finishing the Darkblade series makes it more special.
I hope comes back to fantasy writing some day.
None of the characters so far feel as distinct and vivid as those in Darkblade but the plot setup is intriguing.

It is so good.
While fun and disorienting, I'm glad we appear to have settled on a more or less coherent narrative for now.
It's so cool to learn all the minutiae of necromantic magic that Gideon had zero aptitude, interest or brain capacity for.

Strange Eden is a short little story that does everything it can to make you hate the blustering, impulsive, rapist POV character and humanity as a whole. Quite cathartic ending.

The Father-Thing was great. Some Edgar-Suit vibes.
I can see a lot of things that these stories influenced. Cyberpunk(of course), Man in Black, Fallout.
