The Barrani are the new vampires. :( Every damn book (or so) is about them… There’s really no balance, but then there’s really no reason why any woman wouldn’t try her damn best to understand her role in this mess. Book 13 and the Private still knows nothing about herself. Nor she tries to. They are nice books (mostly) while reading but if you stop you’re really not that interested to know what will happen..

J. This is boring, boring, boring. It’s a curse to read it. Plus there’s not one character I’m empathic about.

I’m not sure what weighed more on me: boredom or the bad writing…

A few pages in and I already loathe both plot and heroine… Shoot me now..

Damn, it had started so good. But first she lacks any moral compass, then all of a sudden she gets a heavy dose of hormonitis and doesn’t even stop to think.

Mostly boring, even if slightly better than the last books. I don’t really like either MCs. Nor I think this is love.

It started well enough, but then went down the road of 2 NA imbeciles and all of a sudden it became erotica.

Mmmm, I would be enjoying myself more if not for a bur under the saddle. And it's a big one. Given her personality she should foaming at the mouth for his behavior. He has manipulated her as much as anyone else. But it's swept after the rug. He's clearly set as the romantic interest and nothing can touch that. But I find it very irritating.

Jesus if this isn't boring me to tears. Nothing makes much sense and the heroine should be killed on sight for her sheer stupidity. She's an ableist, pathetically weak and dependent. Also clearly driven by hormones and not brain cells...
The plot is beyond stupid as it centers around a wishy-washy point. Any woman worth this name would have walked out with a bang.

Aaaaand here it comes: the spiteful TSTL moment. I could so did without it...

Yes, the heroine is 17. But the Palace Guard Captain isn't. But his character has the same attitude of a young teenager, maybe curiosity is acceptable, but stupidity shouldn't. Perception is different from the 'I want to know everything' of a toddler, and I can't really accept that a Captain investigating his uncle's death (a royal prince btw) involves a 17 yo musician. On what basis? She had a dragon teacher?

It comes highly recommended but honestly it is really boring.Halfway there is not much of a plot. Not much backstory either, so you don't really understand one of the MC. He just comes out unpleasant, cowardly and cold.

The problem with glowing reviews and buzz words is that they are frigging personal. It's a boring book with a YA feel (characterwise) except sex. Ergo the blasted NA. I could cry.

What a sad, dark little piece of story

Zzzzzzz. Mostly boring, bland characters, and, contrary to blurb, it doesn't really stand alone. Imagine a book that explains nerds to aliens. Yep, that fun. :/

Mmmm. The heroine is supposed to be a young woman in Victorian times, but she sounds like NA from contemporary. The penny dreadful story is painful to read (probably the only thing right sounding), and nobles give away thousands of pounds like candies on a Halloween night. Research thy enemy... Even in alt some things have to be coherent....

Sadly, this book is a disappointment :( A really stupid, unpleasant hero and an excessive focus on 'heat' rather plot are making this a boring read

Glorious, this is so boring it's beyond dumbing. A string of never ending sex scenes do not make a book. Nor love.

It seems my unlucky week. Here comes an other book with a great premise that fizzle into nothing...
