This is so awful that i started hate reading. And feel pretty okay about it.

tbh, I am not sure what the point of a status update is any more, but here goes: I'm whittling down the friends list in an effort to focus on the people I've had historical connections and interactions with. If I've made a mistake, feel free to reinvite or send me a message! I am old and forgetful, and sometimes its hard to keep up with profile picture/name changes.

There is a VERY long cast of characters at the beginning. I should have taken it as a warning, but I thought, well, maybe I won't guess the mystery immediately. I was right: I am not going to guess the mystery at all, because we don't have one yet.

I’d like to thank Goodreads for helping me manage my time better. You wouldn’t believe how much time it’s freed up now that I’m not getting email notifications. I only visit the site when I’m reviewing a book.

Today I am getting no GR updates or likes, so either GR is wonky or my new antivirus is. Anyone else?

Carol Nelson Douglas can’t write. Her story is terrible, confusing and makes zero sense.

Ilona Andrews-decent. Butcher Bigfoot on campus-kind of fun, at least bigfoot. Rachel Caine’s story—co dependent much?

Kindle is always telling on what i'm checking out. Shelving this one because... not fitting the mood.

Noticed in the last couple of days that I can get an initial partial screen load on people's GR pages, but that it is taking longer to get activity on their pages like recently read books. Anyone else noticing problems?

Read, silly fun. Hunter doesn’t do SF, but she does fo bike gangs and cats. Parts of the biotech seem well imagined, some gets a meh. Lots of details on gang politics but minimal on the world politics (except that they’d charge her and dump her in prison). Felt like a very open ending, although enough of one that you could call it a HEA.

I wait for my heart to finish breaking before I breathe again. It is a terrible thing to be left behind by your mother. It leaves a hole soul-deep to know she walked away, and you can’t help but wonder, again and again, if it’s because of something you did or something you are that made her set you aside. I can’t hug her.

I let go. It’s too late. I named the price and Livia gave it up, her wanting so strong it made fate bend.

Martha Wells The Witch King and a few T. Kingfisher books are on sale on Kobo today.

You know who has a good recommendation algorithm? Kobo, which even gives a percent match. Goodreads and Amazon are laughably bad.

I'm at my first book convention, WisCon 46 with MARTHA WELLS, Rivers Solomon, NAOMI KRITZER, Ryka Aoki and others. Already listened to readings from Rivers and Martha that were entertaining.
