So far this look like an extremely underrated gem. There is action, terms you need a glossary for, and mysterious characters you itch to know more about. What else does a fantasy book need?

Cozy read after the Poppy War utterly traumatised me.

Is this a timid romance I see blooming?

First few chapters dragged a bit. It's a story you're read before, low class kid somehow gets into elite military school. You have to push through that to get to the actually interesting stuff.

Spoiler. Ryland meets a friendly alien, who's also really smart (they have tech to space-travel, duh!). Imagine, you met sapient alien life. How would you go about learning about them and telling them about you so you can solve your common problem (your suns being eaten up by microbes)? What biases about how sapient life and how it works would you have to challenge? This is what Weir explores here, and it's amazing!

How am I halfway into this book already!? Btw, I love the way Andy Weir writes scientists. His scientists actually talk about science! (Yes, I'm looking at you Elizabeth Zott!)

Το διαβάζω και λέω "τι διαβάζω ρε φίλε? 😂". Αλλά με την καλή έννοια!

Λίγη προοικονομιαααααα. Ποιος στο *("·@9£6 είναι ο Κάι? Γιατί πετιέται έτσι στη μέση του βιβλίου λες και τον ξέρουμε από το νηπιαγωγείο?

Ήθελα πολυ να μου αρέσει αυτό το βιβλίο, και μέχρι τώρα είναι πολύ καλό... αν εξαιρέσεις τη γραφή (prose) η οποία είναι πολύ αμήχανη. Τύπου, διάλογοι που πρέπει να τους διαβάσεις 2-3 φορές για να σιγουρευτείς ποιος λέει τι και φράσεις οι οποίες στα Αγγλικά θα ταίριαζαν απόλυτα αλλά η Ελληνική τους μετάφραση είναι μάλλον άστοχη.

pov πήγες Αθήνα για Πρωτοχρονιά, ξέχασες το kobo σου εκεί, αλλά ευτυχώς είχες πάει Πολιτεία και φόρτωσες Ελληνική λογοτεχνία του φανταστικού. Για να δούμε :) (ps το kobo είναι ασφαλές και θα το έχω τέλος του μήνα)

Μετα τη μέση του βιβλίου με ρούφηξε λίγο. Στην αρχή βασικά με είχε μπερδέψει το timeline και το μυστήριο, αλλά μετά τη μέση άρχισε να ξεθολώνει η εικόνα (και να θολώνει μέ άλλο τρόπο αλλά ας μην μπλέξουμε εκεί) και δεν κατάλαβα για πότε τελείωσα σχεδόν. Το κακό είναι ότι τα 2&3 της σειράς δεν βγάινουν σε ebook... Αλλά τι να κάνω, θα τα πάρω σε χαρτί...

Οκ, πλανήθηκα πλάνην οικτράν όταν έπιασα στα χέρια μου αυτό το βιβλίο νομίζοντας ότι είναι φαντασίας. Am I mad about it? Σίγουρα όχι! Σχετικά βαρύ βιβλίο, με πολλά πίσω μπρος στο χρόνο, σίγουρα επιδέχεται re-read σε 2ο χρόνο.

Δεν διαβάζω συχνά ελληνικά βιβλία. Βασικά σχεδόν ποτέ. Αλλά αυτό μου κέντρισε την περιέργεια και μέχρι τώρα φαίνεται πολύ ενδιαφέρον. Δεν είναι περιπέτεια φαντασίας. Θυμίζει Λαβκραφτ, η βροχερή ατμόσφαιρα της Πρέσπας μου βγάζει παρόμοια eerie vibes, εχουμε παρόμοια ανεξήγητα και υπερβατικα φαινόμενα και μελετητές που προσπαθούν να τα εξηγήσουν. Φαίνεται slow burn, αλλα διαισθάνομαι πώς θα αξίζει!

Started reading this. Mostly because of the hype. Don't really like it so far. Prose is very weird. Might dnf.

Rough start I'd say. The writing was a bit off for the first few chapters, but I got really invested during Solar's first adventure.

So, I grabbed this one off of TikTok, the author just popped up on my fyp and the premise looked interesting. Hopefully, it lives up to my expectations!

Well this is fun. Deadly magic schooltrying to kill the kids inside. Protagonist is rude and sassy af. Develops a grudge against the hero of the school after he saves her life. What's next?

I love being on holiday. And I love this book. Which is not a surprise, as I love most of Sandersons work.

I'm dying to know how Scardial went from where we left it at the end of Era 2 to being a space fascist superpower.

COSMERE SPOILERS

Fantasy but in space. That's what we're slowly getting in the Cosmere. And it's amazing. Oh and the novella sections in the book are OK to mostly skip. I just read the new sections, which are a paragraph or two at most for each chapter.

Well... This book is expanding on the Sixth of the Dusk novella, which I must say wasn't my favorite. In general I found Sanderson's novellas less enjoyable than his novels. I made the mistake of rereading the novella yesterday in preparation for the book. That was a mistake haha. Sanderson has weaved the novella into the book as flashbacks. He also added a few details to expand the lore. Which is great, I love lore.
