I'm pretty sure I liked this author's books in the past. Hopefully this series keeps me occupied a few days.

Loving this story and how the author weaves in known fairytale plots but changes everything by creating an entire world into the background so they all work very well together.

Highly engaging. Each book can be read independently without useless drivel from prior books in the series to fill word count, just enough to lend credence to the new story.

Looking for something more than YA and this seems up my alley...with all the ratings and reviews I hope to find another author to follow.

Love that the audio book version is included with KU as it is perfect to "read" while driving.

I started reading Koontz as a teenager and honestly haven't picked up anything new of his in many years as I fell more into the fantasy/supernatural/erotica genres; however this book reminds me of why I loved to pick up anything he wrote.

Loving the story and how it is playing out.

I just realized that there is no one protagonist or antagonist. There are seemingly a lot of protagonists but I would expect just one in this genre. The antagonist could be the hidden army, Salnians, and even the environment at this point. Hmmmm I wonder who will be the protagonist to carry the tale, if one is even there.

The Salrians would have been better introduced in a prologue and the remaining three stories written as they are. The chapter introducing them is necessary but since they do not contribute to the story in a larger effort it would have been easier to understand if their chapter was a prologue.

I had to take a break. Chapter Sever doesn't really fit and more people, places, and things are Introduced that make the chapter confusing.

I'm two pages in and I'm already overwhelmed with the names and geography to memorize. I feel as though I need a notebook to keep track of everything...

This sounds intriguing, the series is free, and the books have some length. I have high hopes that this is another author to follow.

...and I was right. I wish that mystery had lasted longer. The author was clever slipping in the foreshadowing when revealing more about the magics the Laorin use and I doubt many readers would have caught it. Truth told the book holds little muster and is more of a back story. Limited action and I wish the narrative style had more characterization.

The author just dropped a hint that I believe explains Muchal's maid with her scarred face. I could be wrong but the mark fits.

Some new revelations have me thinking that my previous theory is wrong and now I believe the new theory presented in this boom is the true purpose. I do still think that Rezkin will reach his intended destination but not in the manner intended. I think this accidental way s more fun anyhow.

I have a feeling that "Rezkin" isn't a name at all but a title. Based on the reactions new friends have.

This book is great. I was up all night biting my nails. The author weaves a fantastic tale of which the reader knows just a bit more than the protagonist, but not his purpose.

The whole who is who from where is hard to digest because it is all at once. I'm confused and I don't think it was the writers intent.

This whole journal thing bothers me. Here you have a doctor who had to read a lot to get that degree. Experienced readers are not slow to digest a book quickly. So why is this doctor, with nothing else to do for three days, take a day to read a journal entry that takes me five to ten minutes to read? Yes, I understand the mentality of this; however as a fast reader myself I couldn't help but notice.
