Moving passage on pages 22-23 about being caught speaking Choctaw as kids, the subsequent beating and breaking of friendship. I cried.

Tyler uses beautiful analogies I haven't come across in other Christian literature. I never considered prayer affected by the fall before. He used the example of his friend who was paralyzed and when he sent a message telling his hand to move, it wouldn't because the communication and broken down. We're Christ's body and because of the fall have communication issues.

She went on to explain what she's really after is, we read the whole Bible and not just the happy uplifting parts.

Jeremiah 29:11 w/ principal of understanding culture, history, and surrounding scripture before claiming prosperity gospel or reading oneself into a verse. I agree with the sentiment on a large scale, and all scripture is breathed out by God, sharper than any two edge sword, living and active. A friend of mine was saved when it was mailed to her on a sales flyer, and God convicted her that her lifestyle was evil.

We were going along pretty well (except I didn't agree Mary went to the tomb to grieve, I believe she went there to anoint Jesus's body), and then she brought up the idea if we only have hope for the next life and not this life, it's not really Jesus we're hoping in? I'm not sure where she's going. I have chronic pain and there's no cure. So hope for next life and a new body is pretty strong with me.

Lots of POV, very complicated, but he's making each storyline distinct enough they're easy to follow and not get confused. Excellent world building so far. There hasn't been much time for character development with the plethora of characters. So far I really like the first two he introduced and Leo. I think the prince and his mistress are going to be the couple I love to hate.

I love it so far. He just mentioned the "to heavenly minded to be of any earthly good" argument and how he hasn't seen it. I also disagree with the idea. I've been wondering the last year or two if it originated because of nunneries, convents, and monasteries.
