I am amazed that he can be doing something while I am reading and still be aware of what I am saying. Maybe he is like Charles Wallace, he is in two places at once. I think that if these books were written in this time Charles Wallace would be labeled autistic.

Day two of the book. He is always much more into the book after the first day. I wonder if he is like that with all he reads? Interest doesn't occur until he is further into the story? He sat so attentively while I read and when he didn't understand a word he now knows to ask. I think he is getting better at picturing the story in his mind. We talked about how it is like a movie in your brain. I LOVE THIS BOOK

Ah the Rune, my first experience with the power of words. That rune has stayed with me for decades. Before we started the book I discussed with my son how this book takes place when Charles Wallace is 15, then we talked about how the characters might have changed in that time. We looked at the many drawings on the cover and discovered that Meg was grown up and going to have a baby. He figured out who she married.

Laura is finished with A Wind in the Door (Time Quintet, #2)
The book is finished. Patrick has been asking me a lot of questions about Mitochondria and I have had to look quite a lot on the computer. Thanks goodness for the internet. It makes answering a child's questions so much easier. Next we read my favorite book in the series. Nothing like a rune to get your blood pumping!!!

Honestly there is one more chapter left in this book. Patrick is very interested in the fact that the name of Chapter 12 and the book are the same. He wanted to know if it was like that in a Wrinkle in TIme. We checked and it wasn't. I guess I need to look for A Swiftly Tilting Planet now. I'm glad because that is my favorite book in the series.

Wow, that was a short chapter. I would have read more tonight but it was an Aspie night. Poor Patrick just was so upset because he couldn't find a snack he liked. If he hadn't eaten them all so quickly he would have had enough to last the week. Nothing would console him. The attack unfortunately cut into story time by an hour. I wish I could have extended it, but he needs to get some sleep.

The plot thickens. Patrick is enjoying the book so much. He actually wants to go to bed at bedtime so that I can read more to him. Tonight he noticed the book was nearing the end and made sure I was looking for the next book so we won't lose anytime. I never thought I would hear him begging me to buy a book. He also was concerned that Meg was going to die. I had to assure him that she is in the next book.

Ah now we are getting to the part of the book that I remember, inside Charles Wallace. Funny that I have no problem imagining this. Maybe because I saw the movie about the doctors who shrunk themselves in a sub to go inside a patients body, The Incredible Journey I think it was called. I love how upset Patrick is at the end of a chapter. Tonights chapter was long though I needed a break from reading.

How funny. I remember that Charles Wallace was sick and not involved in the most of this book. Now we are more than halfway through the book and he is still an intergal charachter. I am fighting a battle with myself to not read the book in between chapters with Patrick. I know I could have the book finished by now if I cheated and read ahead. We also have some great discussions about words that we come across.

I am one of those people who will pick up a book and read it until I am done. I have actually read through a night and morning not realizing so much time had passed. Tonight I almost did it with Patrick. I finished the chapter. Meg had to name Mr. Jenkins and the chapter ended. I had to force myself to stop. He has school in the morning. No matter how much I need to know what happens next I will have to wait.

School starts back up tomorrow so we only read one chapter tonight. Oh how he protested and tried to get me to read two. But this book has such long chapters that I fear if I read two we would be up too late. We met the Echroi tonight and got an idea that there was a connection between the rips in the universe and the farandolae. I almost gave in the a second chapter because I want to know what happens next.
