How manipulatively sneaky. I had never thought of it in this way, but it makes a lot of sense, especially if one plans to commit more crimes when they get out.

I technically started this back in September/October maybe? with the audiobook. Then wanted to try it in print and it FINALLY came to me! I was not expecting it to take quite as long as it did since it said in transit/shipped for months and that I couldn’t cancel the request. I thought maybe it got lost honestly. But here it is. First time reading this series v listening.

This sounds like a mix of cozies I have read or listened to before that are based around a book store and/or library. Some things seem familiarish.

Okay, so this is book 1 of the series, I double checked, but there was a previous series featuring these characters, so I still kind of feel like I am missing out on some things. Oh well. Hopefully it doesn’t matter too too much.

Me being me again 🙄. Is it insomnia if you ‘require’ less sleep? Isn’t that being up later or earlier because you don’t need as much sleep? Perhaps the wording is throwing me off, and having insomnia does not make me an expert in it….just something my ears perked up at.

This feels a little slow going, even with the speed increased, but I am still into it. Glad I have something to listen to today since I am now sick on top of my every day stuff🤦🏼‍♀️. Tis the season! 🤧🫩. It also makes me wish I could go to NYC (though I would not do well there) and look at historic apt buildings and historic buildings in general and be able to explore them.

Serious question here: any time I have seen spiral staircases, they are always rather narrow. So that’s how I envision them when they are mentioned in books. If there is no other way to get to the room(s) at the top of the staircases, how does furniture get into them? Maybe there is another entry point in this one and I just haven’t gotten that far.

Going into this without remembering what it’s about. I’m sure I looked when I put it on hold weeks ago, but currently can’t remember and decided not to look at the blurb again and be surprised.

Now I am just annoyed/pissed off. Why is a pregnant character drinking wine? FAS is a real thing. And the baby has no control over it yet is the one to suffer the consequences of those actions for the rest of their lives. This was written in 1989 so FAS was known about. Grrrrr.

Not my favorite book ever, but I will finish it and give another book in the series a try some time. Maybe Lucas will become a more likeable character in it🤷‍♀️

Did he just ask a victim out on a date? Why does this seem odd to do during an active case? I mean he says he is getting her out of the apartment, but still….I don’t know, feels weird to me though.

Struggling. Not sure if it’s the narration or some of the characters. Too bad I am too tired to try and read it and see if I struggle with it less that way.

I believe I gave this a try a couple of years ago and didn’t finish it. Libby shows that I made it until 22%. Not sure why I stopped, but my massage lady brought up this author and series at my last appt, so I will give it another try. It’s starting out kind of gross….

How do some people not wash their hands after using the bathroom 🤢. Yeah they are kids, but, shouldn’t that be a habit by the time you are in middle school? It’s not like a recent potty trainee who is so excited about using the bathroom that they need to be reminded. Or just needs to be reminded because small children need reminders while learning good habits so that it becomes a habit by middle school!

This kid😂!!! Why do I find some of this stuff so funny?! Although, I said something to my dad on Sunday that sounded like something a kid would say and not a 42 year old female. I don’t know why it popped into my head and then out of my mouth. The wtf (aka, where did her mother and I go wrong with her) look he gave me was well deserved!! I was so tired I started laughing at myself.

Starting to zone out a little bit. Might need to increase the speed a little bit. 🤷‍♀️. Although I am beyond extremely exhausted, so that could be part of the issue. Probably is most of the issue.

I am getting through these books too quickly! This one is upsetting me just a smidge. That or I am a bit overly emotional right now.

Book is good, surprised I am as far as I am already. But I must set it aside to cheer on the Packers 💚💛.

Appropriate time to be reading this since it currently feels like -6, according to my weather app, with an actual temp of 8. Fahrenheit that is.
