I get where she’s coming from and that she’s a safe space for him but that girl acts like a doormat for everyone in her life. She’s a people pleaser, yes, but she needs to grow a backbone omg we’re halfway through the book

(I think I’ve had this issue with her first book too) I feel like we’re cutting off moments prematurely by ending the chapter. It feels like we’re in a cute moment or build up to something, but there’s very little to no payoff

The plot is losing me.
It feels like, as with every series, we’re trying to aim higher and bigger. But in the process, we’re red-conning info or throwing players and families into the mix that we’ve not been introduced before. We’re inventing pasts for characters to tie them into the present and it feels so inauthentic. Like Tahrereh has started publishing without knowing where the story was supposed to go

What am I reading ??? Why is Juliette so incapable and unprepared? It doesn’t even seem like she puts in any effort. And nobody around her thinks to help when they Information that is crucial? Not Aaron? Not castle?

I’m annoyed by Juliette because - and I’ve been saying this - she is not equipped to be a leader. She NEEDS instead of chooses to rely on those around her, and even then barely listens to what they have to say. Juliette should not be the supreme leader. We’re barely brushing over her tasks, but we see she cannot handle the glimpses we get of her work. She’s frustrating because she’s incapable

Also - the “final showdown” between her and Anderson was short and shitty lol very very anticlimactic

This is so strangely anti climactic. The story is carried by the romance, otherwise, the plot feels so hollow. I mean - Juliette has DIED and came back to life for gods sake. The stakes feel neither high nor real, and Anderson is a very boring villain.

Idk why but Juliette asking the soldiers of the sector to join her resistance is making me cringe a bit lol
