I think the reason why I find this rather boring is that nothing is truly happening in regard to the proposal they’re working on. Even the cake tasting for her job didn’t do much. I know we’re puzzling together time they’re spending together to build a relationship and chemistry, but they don’t have any chemistry. So it doesn’t feel like we’re building romance, so we’re essentially not doing anything

There’s a fine line in dark romance but you cross it when you sexually assault the FMC in her sleep. That’s not dark romance, that’s a felony.

Also, it’s fucking crINGE. FMC is called a freak for her heterochromia?? White authors acting normal challenge: failed. The “humor”? Terrible. Her ass gets slapped and the dude TACKLES the guy to the ground?? Get me out of here

See this is the problem. If you write a characters who’s supposed to be the smartest, she can’t make stupid mistakes.

She killed that one woman’s step dad for being a pedophile and then only takes her polaroid???? I need a new word for dumb because that doesn’t cut it anymore. That’s a connection you stupid cow.

In book 1 the FBI was glad the media hasn’t gotten wind of Lana’s murders yet.
Now (book2) they’re suddenly like “yeah let’s deliver the profile to the media” without explanation.
Why the sudden switch? You haven’t even fully finished the profile.

Great! Other women drama! And not just one but two jealous women! Amazing! Love that! It’s just so cool when the only rational, normal, cool female character is the main character!

Okay let’s just take a case directly from criminal minds. Sure.

Besides that, I don’t like main girly because how is she supposed to be better at profiling than an FBI profiler. I cannot stand characters that have skills beyond the realm of possibility. And she cracks a case for him?? Get out of here.

Now that we’ve added the “I can’t be with her in order not to ruin her professional reputation” it’s a bit better but I can’t really get into it anymore. They’ve colored themselves immature and no matter what, I can’t overlook it. It can’t take me 35%-50% of the book to like the characters and get behind them

The brother being the reason they’re being kept apart is so fucking dumb. How immature.
They could have had the second chance trope, a no-dating clause in his contract as a rising Formular 1 star - literally anything that would be more feasible than her brother being an obstacle. The stakes are just play-pretend and I cannot get over it, especially with how often it’s brought up.

“He’s hot”
“I want to keep it professional”
“Sure. Hey, how long you reckon before they’re fucking?”
(And they proceed to talk about them in a way the FMC doesn’t like or want to be perceived as)

Maybe it’s just me and my circles but what friends talk like that? I also don’t casually call my friends bitch.

Another oh I’m so insecure because I’m tiny and baby-faced and skinny FMC.
They KISSED. ONCE. Seven months ago, sort of want each other but he keeps saying kissing her was the biggest mistake of his life. They can’t be together because her brother is his best friend and that wouldn’t end up pretty? YOU ARE 25 FFS. Jesus fuck get me out of whatever the state of books are right now.

I’m already tired of hearing how small she is and the word “hotshot”. There is no chemistry between the characters but they act like there is, which is especially odd considering they don’t know each other.
Which is probably why it feels like reading fan fiction. It’s boring and flat. We’re breezing through flat scenes and the world feels incredibly small.

I can’t bring myself to care. We established the FMC as the badass who has an orphanage, so she’s actually a good person. Duh!
I don’t know her, so I don’t care about her, and I do not care about her friends which just keep showing up.
Nothing is really intriguing so far. This reads just like every other romantasy out there. I’m bored.

Not sure why I’m reading this - it was in my kindle, but I have no idea what this is about.

We’re almost 20% into the story with no plot or even a hint of where this is going. We’re sort of meandering through days.

I’m also confused about the Japanese vampire whose name is.. Elric? lol

I sorta wish we hadn’t gotten his POV so early on to keep us guessing why he helped her
