Unfortunately the prologue did not intrigue me and based on other reviews I probably wouldn’t enjoy this. The first book was very so-so for me anyways. I’m mostly interested in the other brother’s eventual storyline 🍿

Dnf @ ch 8 - the accented dialogue is truly atrocious and inconsistent

The dialogue with a bad accent for the Italian mmc is so offputting wtf

The mmc is amazing! Unfortunately the fmc drags this down to a 3⭐️. I like the humor, but fmc is pretty dumb for someone constantly described as a smart math nerd lol

3.5⭐️ rounding down - ugh would’ve been 4⭐️ if they didn’t reconcile at the end wtf this isn’t a romance 🙄 lol

Cozy fall setting 🍂 the writing is good but the characters’ inner monologues can ramble on unnecessarily so it’s kind of repetitive

This is so weird in a bad way. The mc is 25 but extremely naive and immature. And they’re so focused on how her magic affects sex??? And not on whatever crazy cursed family history binded her magic wtf

3.5⭐️ - Moral of the story - men are either useless or monsters 👿 the tension when Patricia is hiding in the attic is the reason why I’m rounding up, that scene was so good

Ughhh I know it’s “accurate” to the time period (1960s) but the rampant misogyny and horrible absent and/or abusive men are sooo infuriating. I wish these ladies would STAND UP

DNF @ ch 7 - the characters behave like children in their mid 20s

Can already tell the characters are going to be immature. Then casually mention the FMC has to resort to self-harming for a spell to ration her magic!? wtf might dnf…

2.5⭐️ - even with the clues she left Quinn still never named her killer????! The atmosphere in the beginning was great but the magic barely played a role except to conveniently tie up the ending

I hate dumb characters omfg Quinn had a million opportunities to tell someone what was happening but she’s just like oh I’ll run away and leave clues; anything but actually talk to people 🤡🤡🤡

I actually like the writing; it’s very readable but the fmc is so meek, anxious, and a doormat and obviously co-dependent on her bff which doesn’t make me want to keep reading 🫠

Narrator was a good choice but the story has been boring 🥱

3.5⭐️ - good storytelling especially once you reach the rescue but too much filler giving backgrounds on the rescue people involved

This might be written or edited by AI; it’s written much better than most of these type of short, angsty stories but it def hits the spot 😮‍💨

2.5 ⭐️- Too instant-lovey and mmc comes across annoyingly perfect; every character talks the same with rambling dialogue

Really enjoying the writing style so far, the back-and-forth timelines make sense and the logical perspective on relationships and love
