1.5 ⭐️ - Very unlikable fmc, she made it hard to enjoy the story

Cute cozy mystery series

Really liked the author’s first book so I was excited for this one, but it’s been a rough start - very cringy dialogue and the FMC is coming across rude and insensitive to the mmc, her supposed best friend

3⭐️ - main character is kind of annoying, she speaks in questions lol but the plot is pretty entertaining so I’ll continue with the sequel

4.5⭐️ - Jumps right in to the letters so the start was a little confusing but ultimately grabbed my attention after 35%. Really great in audio format. Hearing Sybil’s life story was very enjoyable and at times heartbreaking

Only 20 min in and this is extremely graphic which doesn’t bother me, but I don’t think I’m the right audience for the subject matter itself. Very confusing start

No third act breakup 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

This was leading up to 4⭐️ but Nena’s cowardice ruined it

4.5⭐️- Not as mind blowing as Recursion but still very good! Couldn’t guess how it would end

Cozy historical romance, but the miscommunication (or rather complete avoidance of communication) is tiring 🫩

Ugh of course this man has to be right and dooms them instead 🙄

Also the descriptions of the female protagonist are so infantilizing, it’s so icky

Good humor, entertaining but too many unnecessary filler paragraphs bc the protagonist’s thoughts are what progresses the storyline so it’s like a constant stream of consciousness

Great angst 😩 so far no real groveling though (doubt anything changes in the last 25%), he just follows her to her hometown and waits for her to forgive him

2.5⭐️ - the ending really dragged on

Both horrible people who really hate each other, completely unbelievable they would fall in love in 3 days or whatever - big disappointment compared to the author’s other book I read

Cute story with a touch of magical realism but too much business speak and the romance is a background plot so no chemistry built up

3.5⭐️ - rounding down, good writing but a bit lengthy at times. Also mc’s husband is just too perfect & a feminist, unrealistic given the time period 1790. MC can be too self-righteous

No change in opinion - if anything it’s gotten worse. There’s no emotional connection between the married couple and the fmc is more concerned with figure drawing instead of seeking therapy after being told she likely has ptsd

First book by this author; very erratic writing - is that her typical writing style? I’m intrigued by the marriage-in-trouble trope but it’s dragging on with too many characters and I’m only 20% in

3.75⭐️ rounding up - I wasn’t expecting to like this book as much as I did! Minor grammar errors, but I loved the humor and strong friendships

Good start, enjoying the British humor. Fmc has low self-esteem and anxious thoughts bc of her ex-bf but surprisingly her overthinking isn’t annoying

They’re using the excuse that the marriage will allow fmc and the kids to get on mmc’s health insurance but they only want the marriage to last 6months?? So only 6months coverage?? Their logic is so dumb

Also why would a 15yo be allowed to be a kidney donor after only knowing this boy for a year 😭 the timeline should’ve been stretched out so that the characters were older when making these choices
