Uh, yea. Why would 3 angels on protective detail in 2 places fall for the "you texted me" gambit & BOTH of the two watching the Childes go to Jim? They can instantaneously transport themselves places, likely faster & DEFINITELY more reliably than any SMS could, so it makes no sense to communicate that way. Goddamn, that just makes the tension fail right at a major pivot point for the climax. Bleh.

"Elli nodded as the consent ache in her chest got worst." ~•~ I like the characters, I like the story, I like the chemistry between the lovers... but my gods, the writing errors are killing me. Tenses all over the place, countless wrong words as in the above quote, etc. Every time I hit these errors I'm ripped out of the story and I want to go find a red pen. *sighs*

I think that I've finally hit my cut-off point for reading romance, incl erotic-romance. Just so fucking tired of the sheer stupidity, shitty behaviours & plain un-like-able characters to whom I've been exposing myself. Scary-ass, abusive, creepily possessive MPs... and the stupid women who 'love' them. I have SO MUCH else out there to read, it's time to break free of my own toxic addiction to these books.

She's a WOODWORKER?!?!?! Fucking-A! I just fell in love with this book. {yea, I'm a female amateur woodworker myself, hence the excitement. Heh... I should someday add all my kazillions of techie books on here. That'll be a helluva project. :D } Just... hot damn, a woodworking, professional woodworking FP? My day has been made 10x over. Oh non-traditional female activities, how I adore you. <3!

Ok. I get that most romance & erotica is at base, fantasy. But good gods, why, why all the little oh so innocent girls that turn into insta-exhibitionists, ménage-lovin', etc women?!? Giving the FP's history & sheltered ness, it doesn't make SENSE that she'd be ok with 1. finding another man in her bed while she's naked & 2. going all exhibitionist with him minutes later. Just... A pet peeve of mine.

Man, I have SUCH a thing for these sexy romances starring bad-boy rock stars. Such a thing. Hah. My to-read shelf is massive, so what do I do? I find a new-to-me author & her rocker book & must start reading right now. Oi. I amuse myself.

Ok. I love me some damaged heroines, I really do... but there's a line between relatable insecurities and "get a fucking grip already"-ness. Alas, this book crossed into the latter for me. Otherwise it was a decent way to spend a few hours. Le sigh.

" ~•~ Bullshit. Heh. Her nickname is 'Naughtygirl25'... If that's not an invite for cybersex much less "sexy flirting", I don't know what is. I hate inconsistencies like these in books.

Ok, I THINK I've managed to update all the books I've read this week so far. I really like tracking how many books I've read & how fast I read them ATM. I'm debating just keeping a notebook around & making notes in that about my reading. I know, I know, I have GR for that but a notebook just feels like less work somehow. I also need to really solidify what ratings here mean to me. *shrugs* Be well, everyone! <3

I admit it, I like my smut. I also really, really like these mammoth books. It's nice to have one or two on the go as I read other books... just a way to grab a brief story when I'm not sure what I want to read next. Plus I've always liked anthologies as a way to find new authors to explore.

My initial response to the synopsis of this book was "Fucking-A! Something that actually talks about this issue! YAYS!" Context: My daughter developed breasts at 9 & about a 32D by 11. She behaved like the child she was, sprawling everywhere & utterly unaware of her cleavage but was thought to be DELIBERATELY sexually teasing. Opinion from? Male family. I believe this twisted modern Lolita concept contributed.

Lovely & awful all in one book. No idea what to rate this at right now. I'll have to ponder it some more. Liked it enough once it turned sweet to read the next book, so... Enh, dunno. Bah humbug, this is why I don't normally keep up to date with GR-ing {hee} what I read. I'd rather just keep on reading the next book ad infintum. Plus, I'd be doing what... 7-10 reviews a week? That's good reading time wasted! ;D

I want to take my time arousing and exciting you.” He lowered his voice. “But most of all, I want to teach your body to recognize the man who worships you, just by my touch.” " ~•~ This however is very hot & sexy. Ok. I feel like I've read two books in this one. It's changed completely from something awful into a sweet romance. I do find Alpha MPs sexy, but not when they're complete assholes. Borderline or outright abusive men are not hot, they're abusers. Unhealthy fuckers that suck in people, use them, abuse them & either discard them or make their relationships so unbearable they force away those that care. Not hot or sexy.

Another thing. So Gabriel's supposedly a tenured professor at U of T. Who has the magical power of tossing a graduate student out of her program & spot because she said she was sorry on the back of a note where someone else wrote that the asshole prof is an ass? Right. Bullshit. Unprofessional, misleading bullshit... that just makes me hate this 'hero' all the more. Oi.

They throw jealous fits that wouldn't be ok even if they're in a relationship w the h {wait, what the fuck, H = Hero & h = heroine? Icy dread spreads through my stomach as I study Remy’s proud, hard profile as he waits by his corner, and the lack of his cocky response to Scorpion’s outward bravado becomes painfully obvious to me. Suddenly I wonder if he’s too proud to forgive me. Will he never kiss me? Make love to me? Love me back like I love him? Because I kissed his enemy?

Awesomeness... this is the perfect description for my own hair colour, such as it is: "But he wasn’t finished. “Then there’s your hair. Hair shouldn’t change color, just by curling, but the edges seem to catch the light, and I can’t be sure if it’s brown or blond or even red when it does. I could watch that for hours, to try and figure it out.” "

Couldn’t he, though? For a moment, he indulged in a fantasy. He could make it good for her. So good, she’d lose the flat intonation in her voice. She’d smile again, a warm smile that would encompass her eyes. He’d be generous, and she’d be happy, and… And that was lust talking again, not logic. How exactly would that happen? Because he had a cock made of magic? Unlikely. Temptation was a bleeding monster.

Another example of her matter of fact inclusion of women's sexual experiences & insecurities... they make her characters alive & real. : " “You’re so wet,” he said. Men had said that to Kendall in the past and she’d always felt like it was an accusation, like she should apologize for her arousal, but with Evan, it was different. He sounded pleased, in awe, seriously hot and bothered..."

Here's why I really like Erin McCarthy's books... She includes so many references to women's sexual realities: "Kendall had a chest that was disproportionate to her frame. She was short and for the most part petite, but since the age of thirteen she’d had breasts that dominated her figure. They had always annoyed her, getting in the way and making her the object of scrutiny she didn’t appreciate."
