Been meaning to read this one for a while. I read Columbine earlier in the year, and with the recent Sandy Hook date passing, I wanted to spend time reflecting on it and learning more. I was working in Norwalk when this shooting occurred and it hit close to home for a lot of folks I know. It’s heavy so far and I only anticipate more as we go deeper.

This is stank-face inducing level gruesome. Def grossing me out in unexpected ways 🤣

I started this tonight as a palette cleanser. I’ve been looking for something horror-esque with grit. This is serving early on. Let’s see where it goes. I’ve only heard good things.

I feel like this is so hard for me to get through for some reason. I was enjoying it earlier in the year but needed to take a break from reading due to other life things. Picking this back up feels like a slog. I might push through the remainder and put the series down. I’m in a slump and might start a different book to help pull me out. Oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️

Trying to get back on the horse. I’m having a hard time staying hooked in this series tbh. Let’s see where this goes.

Fin ch35: haven’t updated in a while because life… but I did listen more! So much to unpack. I like the little murder mystery vibe. Manon and Abraxos are my fave. More deep lore stuff. Cool scene on the lake. I wanna know what that creature was!

Fin ch 26: Manon 🤍 Abraxos 🐉 🥹 I’m in love with this underdog wyvern, he’s my new favorite 😭. Interesting exchange between Chaol and Dorian regarding Celaena’s true identity. Love the mystery creature and want to know more. Seeing Celaena’s flat from Aedion’s perspective was really interesting. Dorian and Sorscha is cute.

Fin ch22: okay it’s picking up and I’m in it. So much information. Love the shifting. Loved the skinwalker fight. Chaol is dumb. That thing in the forest that caused Celaena to enter her memories was wild. Hope Dorian/Sorscha relationship continues to bloom. Manon and the riders is sooooo sick. Can’t wait for war games. Aedion 🤍

Fin ch13: okay Maeve I see you. Rowan is a prince. Training for fire abilities, nice. Manon and Titus are already my new favorites. That’s gonna be epic if it comes to fruition 🧙🏻‍♀️🐉 love Emrys and Luca 🥹 wholesome. Witchy history. I’m here for it.

Fin ch6: Celaena is crashing out, but determined. Chaol is having bad dreams. Introduction to Manon. Stoked to see more witches popping up (I liked Yellowlegs as a villain for that brief moment in the last book). Introduction to Rowan. I thought fae were eradicated? I guess not? Bargain tattoos? Aedion and the sword of Orynth. Excited to learn more.

Fin ch50: cool sequence in the wyrdgates area with the creature. Standard Mort shout out 💀. Celaena’s grief for Nehemia is so sad 😭. Archer can fuck off 🤣 another creature?! If they hurt the 🐶 so help me god. Chaol Demon Slayer 👹⚔️. Dorian ✨ Celaena 🧚🗡️🔥 okay it’s dead.

Fin ch42: love the Baba Yellowlegs fight scene. Love Celaena / Dorian friendship. Chaol is a chump. Wyrdkeys and wyrdgates are badass. Reminds me of horcruxes or the portals to Oblivion in Elder Scrolls. News flash - Mort is still the best. Fae songs mean fae ancestry maybe? 🧐 need moreeeeeee.

Fin ch37: Finally Celaena showing us what she can do. Archer and Nehemia partnership - unexpected. RIP Nehemia 😩, clearly was a choice of some kind. Celaena’s grief is real. Fuck Grave, that torture scene was perfect. Can’t wait to see more Dorian and Celaena “powers”. I love the riddles and a good fantasy item retrieval quest 😄. Mort is still 10/10.

Fin ch23: Dorian with the magic skillz. Still think the amulet is some kind of key / pathfinder. Still love Mort the most. Chaol and Celaena sealed the deal. House of cards will have to fall eventually. Excited to see where it goes.

Fin chx: fuck Davis he got what he deserved 🗡️. Mention of Aelin, excited to see when she gets introduced not just by name. Poisoned again Celaena? 🤣 always getting out of it though. Chaol is such a simp and Celaena sasses him so much 🤣☠️ “it is only with the eye that one can see rightly” - assuming Elaina amulet? 👀 iron vs magic? Hmm.

Fin ch9: Kaltain convo in the dungeon. Bittersweet? Interested to learn more about the rebellion plans. Mort is my new favorite 🤣💀. Trying to piece together potential foreshadowing from messages in the tomb. Archer is a pretty boy bastard lol.

Fin ch41 before work today. Cain def was acting possessed so checks out now 🤣. Still not convinced Nehemia is a baddie but rather desperate to start rebellion maybe? Not sure yet. Kaltain plotting to kill Celaena for stealing her imaginary mans, hilarious. Fleetfoot 🐶🤍. Poor Chaol so sad about her dancing with Dorian 😩. Might finish it today, let’s see.

Fin: ch38. Elana giving tips for the poison trial. Cain acting creepy/possessed/who knows. Kaltain smoking opioids for headaches? Lmao. Nehemia sad about her people being killed. I knew she had something to do with the wyrd marks - mad shady. Dorian is a softy and hilarious so I love that. Celaena got these men in a chokehold. The Dark Lord?! The puppy omg 😭 “hunter and protector of the young” 🧐

Finished chapter 29, in the early few minutes of chapter 30. I’m hooked in. Celaena is the best FMC I’ve read in a long time. So hype that she smacked Varren in the spar. A brief glimpse into her capabilities. Really intrigued by the first Elaina encounter and where it will go from here. Feeling like world bending is coming to light a bit? Portals? Count me in. I love a good murder mystery 🧐

Just finished chapter 22. I’m so invested now. This makes ACOTAR look like complete garbage. High stakes, mystery, violence, badass FMC (I’ll keep saying it because it’s worth the call out). Can’t wait to keep going.

Just finished chapter 13. Got introduced to a bunch of the competitors. Intrigued by Grave and Nehemia specifically 🧐

Enjoying the setup and continue to love the FMC so far. Can’t wait for the competition to start so I can see her whoop some ass 🤣🗡️

Finally starting this series (audiobooks) after a break from SJM. Already enjoying the start of this because the FMC is a bad bitch. I’m here for it. Let’s see where this goes.
