This dialogue is painful. This book is painful.

This is the only Emily Henry contemporary romance book I haven't read because I don't like the second chance trope. But, it's bugging me that I haven't read it so here we go!

I honestly thought we'd be rid of Henri by now. I hate love triangles with obvious outcomes!

This is a super "YN" book lol. Like it's so cringey. Everything is so forced. Dacre is a wannabe shadow daddy, but failing miserably and just comes off as an asshole.

Okay, why do we have to be reminded on every single page of Dacre’s POV that, “She’s mine.”

Writing still bad….

I'm just super confused as to why the plot is unfolding the way it is. If you don't trust her, why is she IN your secret city, TRAINING with your warriors?

It’s interesting, but the writing isn’t great and the underground rebellion network makes zero sense.

It’s like those Vine skits that are over dramatized!!! It’s just sooooo cringey.

Why does the author use two names for the same character within a span of two sentences??

Thoughts-
1. Very political - lots of drama but having a hard time getting into it due to lack of intro
2. Writing is good, but hard to read.
3. Everyone has so many names. I’m having a hard time keeping them apart.

I am reading a Christmas book AFTER Christmas (or is it before Christmas now?).

First thoughts -- Meghan Quinn's writing is always hit or miss for me. I do not like her dialogue sometimes and her humor is definitely very millennial and/or forced. So far, this book does have awkward dialogue.
