Re-reading again after the long ANZAC weekend and listening to the NZ Herald's newly released Desert Pirates podcast, which digs into the history of the Long Range Desert Group - arguably the first modern Special Forces unit.

This book is such a diamond. And hitting just as hard, even after multiple readings.

Yes, there have been tears. A big, fat lot of them.

Loving the chapter titles:
"Glower, Growl, Repeat (Toxic Romance 101)"
"Argue with Your Bride (It's Foreplay for Villains)"

Not going to lie: kind of freaked out by the cause of the hunger pains during the Boxing Day Tsunami aftermath. :-/

This writer's style is outstanding; no bullshit, no word-wastage. Exceptionally well paced. Over a 1,000 pages long and 22% has flown by.

The storyline? Definitely not for everyone. Prepare to jump with abandon into the abyss. (If you're a Sam Mariano fan and like her darker anti-heroes, this will probably appeal.)

Kind of had me at "Hold my chicken".

This is different to what I was expecting. For readers considering whether or not to jump in: if you clicked with Captive in the Dark (C.J. Roberts) you'll likely gel with this one, too.

Having actually visited this glorious little bookshop, this read feels particularly intimate. Especially given the sensitivity of some of the subject matter.

Liking it so far.
