Still pleased with the story. Intrigue and mystery. Power struggles. Nice.
I appreciate that these characters are developing feelings for one another in an organic honest way. No instalove here. And no damsels in distress.
Still bothered by the fact that this is taking place in a European type world.

The characters are fairly well drawn and not paper cut out puppets there specifically to perform the deed. It's nice to see a fantasy type story with a multiracial cast, however I do find it disappointing that the story is set in a make believe European type environment that doesn't match the multiracial cast. I would have liked to see more varying cultures and not just skin colors.

I'm quite impressed so far. I really like the seamless weaving of the multiple different mythical creatures, the historical backdrop, and the internal dialogue. This story has kept me totally engaged so far.

Half way through.
The writing is just "okay". The language isn't lovely.
The premise is interesting enough, but the characterization is lazy to the point of offensive in some places.
This book will make for some great learning and teaching points. There will be a fresh post on my website about this once I'm finished listening to this.

So far I'm intrigued. Not certain how I feel about the mc, or if I can sympathise with him or not.

I'm enjoying this story. Great pacing, sympathetic characters, a great mystery. I am well entrenched in this tale and am anxious for the conclusion, the ah ha! The writing style though, is a bit rough and unlovely. Clunky and sometimes awkward.

I like the titular character and that she's special because she...isn't. There are bits I'm having difficulty visualizing. Not certain if that's the writing or me, which it could be. I'm definitely intrigued.

I'm in love with this book. The setting is different. The characterization is honest. The story is excellently and expertly woven. Characters are likable, and not. But, it is a tad verbose. The pacing is also very slow, but the story is intriguing enough for me not to be too bothered by it.

Compelling but slow. Sweet and sorrowful. Hopeful and hopeless. Defies categorization.

Smart interesting turn of events. Sociopathy. Misogyny. Misandry. Good steady pacing, although sometimes slow. This book makes me feel icky, kind of. So many of the folks in this book are ridiculous and horrible human beings.

What a tough environment! What a harsh world! How any young person could survive and be a whole conscious human being is beyond comprehension. And... We meet Tool again, which I really like.

Though not quite my usual fare, I am finding this enjoyable, with smart believable science, a good deal of dramatic action, and a diverse mix of characters. I'm enjoying this a lot.

The story is...
Well, it could be much more interesting for me, but the language is tad purpley and verbose for my liking. Even though I am listening to this, it's getting harder and harder to keep my interest. Somany people seem to love this, but I'm not really feeling it much. It's not bad at all. Just meh.

Well. This is different for Mosley and I'm not certain I'm buying it. So far two things that come to mind and irk me: 1. This feels like an attempt at Octavia Butler only not nearly as good. 2. The main character beds every woman he comes into contact with and the story/author treats this as normal. SHTAHP!

The narration is lovely.
The MC, June, is petulant, angsty, and has started t work my nerves.
The world building is a little weak but the concepts and ideas for this futuristic Brazil are intriguing and well woven into the narrative.

Wow. This is not what I expected. The prose is extraordinary and alive, but despite this, so far, so much of the descriptions leave me somehow confused. So far there's a lot of angstyness, which isn't bad as long as the main character has some growth. That remains to be seen as things are just getting started.

This is a little painful. Dana can't let Rufus die because it could mean her own future death but the idea of settling into a pattern of slavery, the humiliation, the whippings, the rapes and subsequent children, the threat of being bought and sold at will, constantly being called nigger... Ugh. It's too much.

It is obvious that this is one of Butler's earlier works. The language is less refined and the story doesn't read as smoothly. It took me a little while to settle into the tale, which by the way jumps off into action pretty quickly, due to the use of language. Nevertheless I'm enjoying Kindred immensely.

So, Sal (ugh) knows she is a chimera and that there are others like her...more or less. She thought she was human up till now but not suddenly she's willing to throw her human parents under the bus for her chimera brothers and sisters? Just like that? More reason to dislike her. in her loyalty she is disloyal.

The drums. The warm dark hot. The fainting and the weakness and whining. I'm not supposed to want the main character to die. But I do. Ugh. She's annoying. A walking contradiction.
