Really liking what the author is doing here, by giving it a new context of race, the Lintons and their world are white, gentile English society while the Earnshaws love off illusions of respectability, of belonging. Cathy is stuck between: wants to belong, hiding Indian silks like denying her true nature, yet her dilemma of recognising unconsciously that she belongs with Heathcliff (ambiguously POC but obviously so).
