Detective Mansur Halim's sense of humour that I surprisingly don't mind at all is interfering heavily with my ability to focus on the read. Whenever a chapter contains this character, I find myself preparing to pause every few lines to let the infectious laughter out. Don't want a repeat of yesterday...

More comedy ensues. Had to take a break for quite a few moments (and went out of the room) to get breathing back to normal. Couldn't stop laughing and almost doubled over from time to time in between talks and walks. The family assumed it was just my sudden-laughter-at-random-moments-for-a-long-long-time-syndrome-for-no-apparent-reason that had taken hold of me.

Is it a historical thriller or a detective novel infused with spot-on humour? The laughter bubbled up since page 18 and moments just kept coming up that were too comedic to hold the urge to laugh-out-loud in.

Sheer torture. Cannot take it anymore. Blegh. DNF DNF DNF Now! It's been too long, too much time wasted, too high time I dnf-ed it!

Why would the action and the real plot start at chapter 26? The entire thing before that was soooo... boring and nothing real ever happened. Not a believable story.

This thought, unvoiced but deeply felt by Sal resonates:

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little bit terrified. The fact was, I could either let my fears of the unknown make me a victim, or take control of my career. ...You don't get to live your dreams by waiting around for someone to hand them to you. Or at the very least, you hold on to them for dear life when others try and take them away."

This is so different from what I thought it was going to be. My hopes are getting up about the case. (You'll know what I'm talking about when you get to chapter 17.) Plus, the notes/ exchanges have been so good to read about...

Ch. 20. What Veronica said to Kit. Enough said. And I learned something. I would like to know about Veronica's interesting journey through life next.

So much care went into making this gem of a book available to the general people! Cannot wait to get to the first chapter.

দুর্দান্ত! দুর্দান্ত! Brilliant. And so, so fun. Right at page 21 the first delight is delivered. Then a surprising turn at page 29. It is a thriller, and one that's definitely going to keep me on the edge for the next couple of hours or at least keep my mind occupied until it's finished. Thank you, author and translator, for helping evaporate my constant dark mood caused by joyless reads these past few days.

I'm enjoying it. I.am.ENJOYING.a.lot. This game, this psychological warfare Feyre is playing. Mesmerizing. I haven't laughed or clapped or been awed this much while reading a fantasy book in a long long time.

Things are taking a turn for worse, or better. And I cannot but keep reading.

I'm horrified and enamored at the same time. What on earth gave her the idea?

Some mysteries are unveiled, such as that of the turtle, and only 100 pages left for it, and I mean 'It', to end.

Near the very end. All mysteries unfolding, one by one. And I found It's PoV creepy and beautiful at the same time.

How is it that I managed to love this book without falling in love with the story? My annotations (highlighting and marking sections with sticky tags) are getting crazier by the second.

I'm feeling it. The sensation of a tug, in the other direction. Like I need to see ahead but the only safe path lies behind. There's a tingling in every bone in my limbs.
