This book suffers from past-tensitis. Even things that could be delivered 'in the moment' are being described off as already having happened as the characters reflect and muse on events after the fact. I'm already extremely tired of it, and I'm sighing because everything about the premise is great--it's just the writing is killing it. I mean. In a bad way...

QUIT IT WITH THE REDHEADS YOU AUTHORS.

Every fun and vivacious character has red hair, and every boring girl has brown. Can we like, just stop describing color--and maybe just start describing texture or something? Because this is getting ugh.

WHY IN THE EVER LOVING FRIGG' ARE ALL THE WOMEN SPORTIN' RED HAIR NOWADAYS. It's like they held a book-writing conference and they were all: "most common hair color worldwide--brown? That's boring, let's make all our characters with red from now on. Make 'em all fiery personalities. Keep it interesting." ...it is no longer interesting.

gotta' say, I'm not as impressed as I thought I would be by now. Hyde's not as...erm: deliberate...as I thought he would be. Very strange interpretation.

This is why I'm an advocate for authors HIRING OUT audiobook performance. She may be a smart lady, but it's really hard to stay locked into the vocals when they're this deadpan and nasally. This has been in my 'to read' list for SO LONG, and now I'm incredibly disappointed I bought the audiobook instead of the actual book.

Had to shelve a couple months ago, I forgot to renew the book and had to turn back in, I'm number four in line at the local!! I can't wait to get back into it though, I'm sad I let it slip out of my fingers.

I have learned more science during one sitting...in this introduction...then I have since high school.

Intrigued I be.

Somehow this turned partially into a 14 year old/16 year old romance--and I feel creepy and old.

"I'm so great at fighting" "everyone's acknowledged how great I am" "I got this posting because I fight like a champ" --main character proceeds to lose three fights.

This GUY, is AWFUL. I can't believe I paid money for this book. Yuck. He's such a douche canoe. For real he's lousy. He gropes her boob while stealing a kiss after a day or two of meeting (not really knowing, just initially meeting) her, and when she winds back and slaps him--he demands an apology.

Imbecile. I don't even care.

Douche canoe.

New rule: you can only use the word 'eviscerate' twice in a novel, three or more is far too reliant.

Really, really disappointed in the character development of Captain Hook. I lot of her 'action' has been explained...but the combo of that and personality is nearly non-existent at this point. Sure, she quirks a smile here or there--but the writings of her expressions are flat, and her character motive is behind the ball.

Not really a fan, but I'll finish it, because the concept of a Hook gender-swap has got me.

Nothing takes me out of a romance more than something depressing. And the main character's best friend only giving her $20.00 for a pair of handmade perfectly-fitted bra and panty set is it.

That cost barely covers material alone for a custom clothing item! Especially expensive materials that are photograph-ready.

Yuck. As an artist--this makes me irritated.

If you're not listening to this as an audiobook--you're not really living. Stephen Fry is legitimately one of my favorite vocal talents. He's a hoot.

So apparently, they met four pages ago, and now they're holding each other in corridors having had long conversations for three months. So, I don't like the time jump there, totally mystified and took me out of the story.

Decided to audiobook this one on the little's and my nightly walks! It's making me a wee bit paranoid, and I'm only on track 35/181, soooo--I guess we'll see how that goes.

I’m awkwardly at the portion of the break-off party deciding whether or not human flesh can save them...unfortunately it is also lunchtime.

Fourteen pages—and JUST NOW starting the novella. Jeesh guys so many wasted appreciation pages in my honest opinion.

Can’t do it! Not sure why I’ve had so many issues getting into this story, but it’s rough. So I’m shelving it as ‘i give up.’ Sorry guys!

Perfect rate of action. I'm loving the concept and execution of this writing! I can see why there's so many subsequent books.

I keep having to come back to this book; it's not gripping or keeping my attention. I keep putting it down to read other books. While I want to know what happens, I'm frustrated at the author's lack of plot-focus, and that's resulting in my lack of focus. So many tangents, not weaving together well. I feel like I've read 145 pages, but it's only 60.

"I thought sprucing up make you see things my way. I can be attractive too. You are gathering stares from the men like gold." I figured it out. This short story was written by a fourteen year old, and is self-published. Got it.

If she writes 'in for a penny, in for a pound' one more time...I'm going to freak out.
