So far, once again half of this book has been this “are we in therapy?” type of dialogue. One character apologizes for something ridiculously innocuous, now there’s tears & deeply personal insights. These MCs met yesterday and shared like 4 scenes…
This may be my last book for this series, 3 chances is enough. This identical over politeness between all 3 main couples is feeling AI generated at this point.

I wasn’t really looking forward to this one. Charlie, I’m counting on you to prove me wrong… you did so well with subverting my expectations in the first book. 😂
To put it simply, I knew from the second we got introduced to Laz that his book would be the naive little damsel in distress story. This isn’t fun, or cute, or sexy, or engaging. Fingers crossed that by the end, Red & Laz win my heart. 🤞☺️

This is very cute so far, I’m pleasantly surprised.

Kelly, honey, you’re not starting the story on a very high note. It’s been a year in their relationship, and he STILL feels the need to not communicate his true & reasonable hangups to his bf? And he has the nerve to be irritated with Blue for picking up on his distance? His “sass” also stopped being charming about 20 bitchy comments ago. And why not make Blue hypocritical as well.😂 Holding out hope!🤞

His best friend called him a “waste of space.” What the hell? The characters in this are saying the most random out of proportion things. 🫢

First impressions: the author is really going out of their way to portray Scotty as the most unsexy little worm ever. I’m not looking forward to the spice, but I am looking forward to the rest of the story. 🤣

What fun is a grumpy MC in a grumpy/sunshine, if the Grump just keeps everything to himself and doesn’t just own it IRL? With Jesse’s attitude, he shouldn’t care about hurting their feelings a tiny bit, if the end result could get him what he wants. 😂 it’s making me bitter because I’m getting sick of Jesse whining to himself, but not doing anything about it so far. Wake me up from a deep sleep? HELL NOO

The further I’m getting, the more I’m seeing red. Skylar is the embodiment of everything I hate about the nosy bff trope. And WHY are we continuing to act like Deacon’s feelings & needs aren’t as important as the guy who literally only wants to use him as walking dildo? I’m not gonna be charitable to Deacon if he ends up capitulating to Tanner next chapter. Please don’t be such a weak ass protag😤😂

In 1 line, this book committed my ultimate pet peeve. Mr StraightGuy wants to use the gay MC as an impersonal sex toy, and the LTR oriented gay MC does good in shutting that down…but then immediately tosses those boundaries out the window. It especially pisses me off as a gay guy who would take great satisfaction in telling him “FUCK NO!” It almost makes me wanna write a book like that out of sheer spite. 🤣

It’s starting to really piss me off that these authors constantly make the abusive partner get the last word. The scenes start so epic, then the whole thing crashes and it’s like all the momentum has been erased. I don’t care how realistic it is, if I see this over and over again I’m gonna start getting irritated. This POS better get a REAL comeuppance, not just a bland token “FUCK YOU”. Fingers crossed!

Christmas grinch story! I’m slightly miffed that it stems from the grinch issuing a challenge to the other MC, and not actually trying to shut it down…these stories trigger the contrarian in me.😂 My idea of a perfect wish-fulfillment book: the contrarian saying “DON’T” or “DROP IT” or “LEAVE ME ALONE”, just once. Give me a male Cristina Yang in a situation like this, that’d be so awesome!😈

No. This is torture. WHY Sadenverse?! I thought we reached our quota for second-hand embarrassment in this series with the first book! This character is another self-admitted doormat, and you had to make them another Klutzy wutzy, too??

Barely in, and I’m borderline offended. I can get over how sloppily the author hit us with ALL the stereotypes at once, but of course they also HAD TO make Murph a horny flirt with his new straight roomie and obnoxiously try to bait him into confirming his straightness 🙄. They also couldn’t be more hamfisted with Jason’s portrayal of being Mr. Straighty-Straight if they tried. Terrible first impression.

FR, I’m completely over this trope, and I’m likely to skip over the family argument scenes. Luckily the 2 MCs have good chemistry so far.

I haven’t found my long sought after male Lorelai Gilmore, yet. I have faith he’s out there somewhere…😂

More than 10 chapters in, and I’m pretty bored. I wish this book was only told from Jordan’s POV. Without the extra context of his narration, he comes off as nothing more than grumpy troll that makes Liam’s interest have zero spark or zero sense. I don’t care about Liam’s painfully generic character & conflicts, at all. I hope they’ll at least be cute once the plot finally starts going somewhere.😬😂

What is with these books and the lack of character descriptions? Is this a common thing in modern books (I haven’t read much modern stuff outside of MM )? The trend seems to be: give the most basic details somewhere in the beginning, and make them super easy to forget. Usually it’s not a big deal, except with twinkish child-like MCs. The image my brain conjures up for them is never sexy in the slightest. 😂

This father better get a good flea in his ear. Damn he’s annoying. 😂 Glad they don’t have him in many scenes so far.

I don’t mind John Solo as a narrator, he’s mostly done a great job with this series so far…However…this wistful, breathy, woe-is-me & the crappy hand I’ve been dealt, voice he is doing for our MC Shaun is kinda making me wanna pull my hair out. I won’t DNF because the story itself isn’t bad, but I have a feeling I won’t get through this without clenching and gridding my teeth down to nothing.🤣

This might be a tall order, but I really hope this can be the ONE story where the main secret is never exposed. Sure it’d be nice if they’d come out as a couple, but I’m almost nauseous at the idea of all their friends and family finding out about (and seeing) their OF. That just feels like too much, especially with the live emotional grenade that is Kyran. If that happens, no, this won’t be enjoyable AT ALL

Me patiently waiting for Cooper to snap and yell at his father… Ok, maybe not so patiently. Their dynamic is a little confusing… half of the time Cooper seems okay to sass at him, the other half it’s like he’s not brave enough to do anything but placate (no matter how severely he’s being reprimanded). Placating characters usually frustrate me to no end, but this just makes it worse TBH 😂.

And the nerdy second-hand embarrassment begins… ugh. 😂

FFS…we get a scene where Art firmly sets reasonable boundaries, which Joey immediately ignores, and Art just…leaves? What was the point? To make us root for Joey to get fired? 😂
