Arianna is on page 45 of 320 of Everyone on This Train Is a Suspect (Ernest Cunningham, #2)
Well this book is so dull it destroyed my months long streak on kindle because I had zero desire to spend any of my Saturday reading it and forgot completely about it.

I knew this was going to be bad after the first paragraph. So much useless text like "I ate some cereal and then drank coffee and made sure to clean the cup and turn the faucet off". Please tell a real story. We all know how meals work.

I haven't suffered through so many long speeches in my life and by this third book I'm starting to get really tired of them. There's barely ever any action and when there is there are multiple speeches to get through leading up to it, and then even more of them afterwards.

Um, no one finds meaning to keep on going by working absolutely meaningless lives that don't even enable us to get healthcare, own a home or have free time. That whole line of thought really bothered me. Also the character point of view seems to be contradictory. Which now I recall that being a weird issue in the first one too.

Every single person in this book has the exact same personality and all speak the same way. Other than reading who is supposed to be speaking there would be no way to tell. It's been such a slog to get through. I feel like the author is much more suited to nonfiction.

So there are way too many perspectives in one book. I'm in roughly the middle, where the story should be ramping up, yet already several of those storylines feel like they're done or should have been done in the previous book. The two storylines that feel current are hardly touched and one of them, Natalie, feels kind of skipped through, and hers was the most interesting to boot.

Nite to author, if you're going to write about people from another country it is great if you research some coloquials. People from New York do not day "mum", and the characters so far from there I would say also don't have the correct manner of speaking. But then all of these characters mostly say one sentence at a time and stop so it's hard to tell.

It's very simplistic but the real issue is how short each conversation seems. No one seems to ever actually say anything at all and it's like a staccato trying to read through it. The writing style has also changed randomly more than once before going back to the standard. It's hard to relate to any of the characters because they seem to have no depth.

Why am I sitting through so much mundane and minute detail about how people exit planes when they land? This could all have been skipped. It started strong and then somehow came to almost a screeching halt as far as interest.

I stopped reading this for years and had to start over. I should have just stopped for good. The language used is so agitating. Constantly rhyming and using the same words in different ways. It's not clever, it bigs the whole story down. I don't even know what is supposed to really be happening yet because of it and it definitely isn't catching my interest.

This has been really hard to read because it's obvious it's written by a man and although he kind of tried to understand what life is like for a woman he really doesn't. And definitely has a really skewed view on what would actually change with a woman in power. The only thing I can say is the writing style is good, the rest, not so much.

I mean it's weird but at least it's not A Handmaids Tale. All these men had to do was wear some pink slippers, not be raped and killed.

"Eve presented a solidly professional appearance, but deep down, he had no doubts he was a very feminine woman."
What is that supposed to mean exactly? That being a woman isn't "professional"? I found this line in particular to be extremely offensive.

So far, chapters two and three could have been completely omitted from the book. The paranormal team assembling and traveling was one of the most uninteresting things I've ever read. There are also unnecessary minute descriptions of their surroundings that don't need to be included. We all know what a hotel looks like, and we don't really care what color the rooms are.

I wasn't sure I would like this but I'm actually enjoying it. The fact that the predators are called landlords and killing prey is called collecting the rent just makes me despise predators though.

This had such potential to be a cute and funny book about old friends but the conversations are so disjointed it's difficult to follow. Nothing discerns when they are speaking in the past versus speaking in the present. I'll muscle through it but I am not at all enjoying it.

Having a really hard time getting through this. If it's not a man trying to write a woman then I don't know what the female author is even thinking with this personality.

I'm very interested in what is going to happen however the constant inner monologues regarding their political opinions is really detracting from the story. It has no bearing on anything whatsoever. I think perhaps the author is trying to establish character with it but there are definitely better ways to do this. It's such a slog to get through those parts just to get back to the story.

I asked for recommendations of paranormal stories and this author and series came highly recommended by two people, but alas, I am so very disappointed. It's just another sex book with some cryptids sprinkled in. Her writing is ok, really basic but at least she doesn't write annoyingly in first person like many do. But yeah, I was not at all interested in reading another story about someone screwing a vampire.

I really hate how he writes up sentences, such as "He looked at his baba like he was drinking from a baba", it's been all over it so far. I hate it, and I hate the weird slang and trying to decipher anything between those two things...

This books remains a bit confusing to follow, due to the use of far too many analogies to describe even mundane things. Like it's trying too hard to sound romantic. The conversations are odd also. It's still interesting story-wise, so far anyway.

The writing style is a bit confusing. The very beginning of it was super hard to follow. Was he in the orphanage and no one wanted to adopt him for long? Because it made it sound like he was, but then it made it sound like he wasn't! It also made it sound like he was performing magic, but wasn't clear about it like it should have been. Then there was mention of "Hostile" like it was another race but no explanation...

I generally get really sick of reading about the same characters after two books. Four is pushing it hard, so I was happy to be in the point of view of some of the others. The romantic troubles of the two main ones have gotten old and annoying. I'm much more interested in the romances of the others. Also, at this point, I'm afraid she's about to copy Blade. I don't like that, but we'll see.
