Clive Barker is back in fine form with The Scarlet Gospels. Harry D'amour vs Pinhead for the soul of a friend, and it is an all out battle in hell. The Cenobite perversion is high, and the fun is full flight. The only complaint is I don't have the time to speed through it

Goldsworthy's highly readable treatise is both entertaining and educational. The first hundred or so pages sets the reader up with backgrounds on Antony's family, his entrance to politics, as well as introducing us to the Ptolemy family, how they came to power in Egypt and leads into Caesar's civil war, setting the stage for the romance of the ages.

So far this is a nice and concise introductory overview of some key points and events in the Republic and early Empire. Nothing too detailed or specific, but still a good read.

So far this biography of History's greatest politician and general is amazing. Reading it is like being part of a lively class on 1st century BCE Republic, and I highly recommend it to all history enthusiasts.

Re-reading (i never actually go around to finishing the first time I bought a copy) after losing the book a year ago. Just as great the second time around, and after taking some time from psychedelics the subject matter is just that little bit more engrossing.

So far, this is easily Mike Carey's best work, including his extensive comic book writing.

Re-reading Wicked. This is easily one of the best fictions I have read, period. Will follow it up by re-reading the other three books in the cycle too.

So far this book is glossing over the hard science, and postulating more on the philosophy. Which is fine, but I cannot help but think that Davies is trying to reconcile his profession with a childhood brought up with the Church.
Still, quite interesting.
