Did anyone else who listened to the audiobook get driven crazy by: she said; list of what she wore (don't care); description of her hair, including the words "center part." Also, don't care.
Maybe it's just me.
Will slog through final section.
Is it a little insulting/contradictory of the title that suddenly she's all, "She had always wanted to be a mother." I get it, it's not either or, but is it necessary??

I'm OBSESSED with this book. My favorite part is that I know who many of the characters are (like Brad Gilbert) so it is fun when they enter Andre's life and I get to discover how they influenced his success.
It is also a little depressing to observe the terrible relationship he had with Brooke Shields and also to watch his slow slide into failure.
But I know how the story ends!

Fascinating history not only of WW but also of the birth of criminal psychology. Also understanding Marston helps us understand why WW was tied up so much. (lol)

Wow! So close. Only 10 hours left! (laughing emoji!).
I am enjoying it, but she gives a little too much detail about some things, like specific shots from Yentl and Prince of Tides.
But I enjoy her conversational style of narration, and also her indignation at the continuing sexism in Hollywood.

The chapter on Yentl was like two hours long. That is all.

This is on the long list for the Booker. It is not available at the library! So I had to buy it. If you want to borrow it, let me know. I like it. This book is written in English but it has a non-American sensibility, which I prefer, these days, in my fiction and probably in my real life as well.

I have now checked it out for the 3rd or 4th time. This time I will finish!

Still charming, not yet tiresome. I will have to check it out three more times to finish it...But I love that it sounds like she is just dishing over a cup of coffee.

I'm only 7 hours into this 48 hour book! Lol. But actually it's quite charming. It's like you're having coffee with her and she's telling you stories. But when she mentions the young handsome man she's helping with his lines at summer stock is Warren Beatty or that the janitor at the acting school was Dustin Hoffman or that her first boyfriend was Eliot Gould. Fun! She describes all her outfits, which I love.

I bought this in Berlin, and it is the beginning of my year of reading more books in translation!
I am reading this slowly; each chapter is a different character/client of the narrator, who is a chiropodist in a neighborhood that used to be Eastern Bloc housing outside of Berlin.
It is charming and I am enjoying the slow read.

I like this quite a bit. But I don't have time to read it all the time. Because I'm reading other things. Because I'm a teacher.

It's fine. Don't love it, don't hate it. I see what it's doing and it is mildly interesting.
The characters are .... okay? But I feel a bit at arm's length so I'm not emotionally invested in this story.
It seems like a story about other stories, which I like in theory, but I haven't yet found a home in any of these stories.

Just started this. Immediately clear why it won the National Book Award. Gorgeous writing. Doesn't give a fuck about plot or explaining shit. Love it so far.

Received this comic novel as a Christmas gift. So far it is not funny but the voice of the narrator is charming. I like it.

This may be folly but I’m looking at it as a project.

Still loving it. Hoping to use one of the essays in my class this fall.

Ugh. I wish someone had told me it was supernatural or whatever the term is, because I would not have started it. Shrug. So now I'm going to finish even though it's making me roll my eyes.

I still have 200 pages to go! I didn’t read it for awhile….but now I’m back in it. Love Dickens writing. Sometimes hilarious.

Really liking it so far; the sections are pretty distinct in terms of focus, veering from 9/11 to sex. It’s a bit heavy so I sometimes have to put it down for a spell…

I'm so addicted to this book. I'm sure I will finish it today or tomorrow. Great plot and well written.

Brilliant. Forcing myself to read it slowly. Indescribable.

Not loving it. It was a Christmas gift, so I feel obliged to finish it. I think the conceit of it interferes with the story. Some obvious stuff in here but some clever stuff too.
