Kent's no doubt infected too.

And now things have gone to crap. I can't wait for all the deaths!

Oh, boy!

I knew Shelley was the weirdo.

Accurate depictions of teenager of boys.

And so it begins...

Tim, you idiot! You let that hungry bastard into the damn cabin!

Helena had her first line of spoken dialogue in, like, forty pages.

Well, it took a while, but we finally have some interiority from Helena.
And now we meet Kaine.

I'm sure this will be a fun good time and nothing bad will ever happen.

Some of the political worldbuilding is interesting, genuinely. Still, SenLinYu usage of some words isn't hitting the ear right.

Finished.

Review to come.

Noa's father is a selfish man, but Ojeda still made him multi-faceted.
This has probably been her best character work ever.

Everyone's tripping balls.

Are the men harassing Noa, her father, and Nicole Mario and his friends?

Noa's father's POV is the most interesting so far.

I need stronger sensory detail. The wrist-stabbing scene, while meant to be horrifying, is delivered clinically.

Even the mountains are horney.

Oh, Nicole...

I like the way the sections from Noa's father's POV are written. There's a lot about God within in nature going on.

Very interesting end to part one. I though the Noise festival would last the whole book, but's ended. Part two seems to take place ten years earlier.

C'mon, Mario. We know you want that horse spirit coochie.

Noa is either suffering from extreme altitude sickness or she's possessed by something.

The author is using some of the same descriptors within the same sentences or paragraph multiple times.

Up front, there's quite a few sentences where SenLinYu defines something with a simple, short description that the reader can infer everything else from, but then adds an unnecessary and longer explanation.

I'm aware of this book's origins and its content. I'm reading it to see if it actually stands on its own, removed from its source material.

I like how each perspective's prose is a little different.

Mónica Ojeda's unorthodox prose is as present as ever, however there's a bit more cohesion to it than in her previous translated novels. Still very atmospheric though!

Holy shit! What an ending!

Review to come!

The centipede is god!

Should finish this at lunch time!
