I noticed that every time the master of the house hunted, the hunting became more difficult. I wonder if that was mean to parallel Gawain's growing anxiety about the lady of the house and his forthcoming duty?

The fact this is one of two stories where a woman greatly desires Gawain, makes me wonder what medieval women's perception of Gawain was. I know lofty ladies falling for knights is a common trope, but Gawain is in such specific situations both here and in the story with Ragnelle it makes me wonder.

Was not expecting the gutting of a deer described so graphically in a medieval poem.

Now the poem said the old woman accompanying the lady of the manor said her butt bulged and swelled.

The way the poem just briefly stated that Gawain has thicc thighs. I know what you are, writer.

Also, apparently the pentangle on the shield is actually from this poem. I thought the movie with Dev Patel invented that. Cool!

This has both the Middle English text and the modern English translation for comparison. The original text is in alliterative verse and I like that the modern text has, mostly, kept that.

Ending's a bit of a let down, you could tell Butler wanted to do a sequel, but still an interesting book.

I think the trial is going to be the remainder of the book, which is a bit of a shame. Nonetheless, what Shori's uncovering is still interesting.
The person suspected of ordering Theodora's death is not who I thought it was.

At this point, it definitely feels like somebody is manipulating by Shori's family and the Silks.

One of Shori's women Ina relatives is implied to have been Queen Elizabeth I of England. LMAO!

Another Ina family is attacking Shori's. Probably because they hate what Shori is.

Welp, they finally caught one of the people attacking them. His name is Victor and they're going to question him.

They keep getting attacked! How do these people keep finding Shori? One of her symbiotes has GOT to be a betrayer.

Shori and her symbiotes met some other Ina. Who is targeting them?

They just can't catch a break.

Damn! I didn't expect that so soon!

So Shori and her brother Stefan were attempts to give the Ina darker skin to survive the sunlight. Hmmm....

Very interesting how the vampirism and the community of the Ina works.
Octavia Butler isn't shying away from how messed up Shori and Wright's relationship to outside eyes, but I still wonder why she made Shori look so young.

This already getting interesting pretty quickly.

Renee is moving fast with learning she is a vampire.

Book is interesting, but also already creepy for very obvious reasons.

I do like how Killjoy shows the conflict between characters on how far they want their resistance to go.
