Sarah B is on page 23 of 110 of For Whom the Cloche Tolls: A Scrap-Book of the Twenties
This book is oddly fascinating and easy to read. But I have to admit there is confusion if this is fiction or nonfiction as my library had this in the nonfiction area so? But it seems like diary entries where this woman is talking about her friend Maisie.

It's Thursday so that means another horse book. And this one is a pleasure to read! It has danger, mystery and vivid details in the description. Just love the environment that Matt is riding through on his horse, Buck. Matt is trying to build himself a new life so he can settle down after being a fast gunslinger but others want that ranch.

"He rambled! He rambled!" This book is rambling all over the place... This is practically unreadable. And these characters in here are SO annoying it's utterly insane. I don't know what is wrong with these characters but they are truly awful.. I strongly suggest if you see this book to run away from it as quick as possible.

So far there are some totally bizarre things in this book that make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Like totally ridiculous. Especially about the eye surgery... And these characters are pretty awful too.

I am enjoying this story and I sort of jumped into the middle of a series but it seems to not matter much. But how they are talking about the iron foundry in here has put a new realization in my head: a foundry needs tons of trees! And they will be used up fast. But the main character sure is a strong woman, emotionally and mentally.

I am making progress on this.. just recently they fought a cave full of natives who had raided and killed innocent people.. very dangerous situation for the people inside the cave.

Crook was very indefatigable. He never got annoyed or distressed. He treated everyone the same no matter their race or color. He made it his life mission to learn the pack train (mules) and he insisted on knowing daily about each animal. He told the truth to everyone and expected that in return. He refused to make promises he couldn't keep. He let the past go and his goal was to stop the war with Natives.

After moving to a new school, Brie desperately wants to keep a big secret about her family and she wants to be in the "in group" - gets invited to this all night party at the amusement park. And now creepy stuff is going on! Lots of creepy stuff, as in with pick axes and dangerous rides. And that Emily is utterly ghastly and mean!!

So George Crook has been in here for awhile now and seems like a very honest man. He doesn't smoke or drink coffee / tea or alcohol and he doesn't say any bad words either. He was quite the rare man.

This book is getting so interesting! I keep reading in here that people had to get their leg amputated if they got shot. So I asked Google why. And it was because of the soft lead Minie ball bullets that smashed bones and did massive damage to blood vessels and nerves. They were hollow bullets. Also lots of info about Tuscan in here too.

So I just read about the "devil's darning needle" and how this "tarantula hawk" attacks the gray tarantula - except it's actually a wasp! The paragraph didn't mention wasps at all. I guess it was common knowledge back when this was written. I am really going to try and finish this book over the weekend.

This story is very fascinating but I admit I am somewhat confused as to what the main character, Anatema, looks like. Is she a giant spider or is she a drider? Or something else?? I cannot visualize so it's hard for me to grasp it.

Fenrik and some of these others seem very shortsighted. They think they are doing the best for themselves but in the long run it will backfire. But like in many books, it's a power struggle.

Maybe I have a suspicious mind but I have a pretty good idea about who is involved with Vlad's missing parents! And poor Eve is having a hard time fitting in since she is the only living person in this land of the undead. Reading this, I can only imagine what an outcast she must feel like. And can she actually trust all vampires and werewolves??

Sometimes I find some really bizarre things in these old stories. Now a man's wife is being compared to a piece of furniture! How a person can look like furniture is beyond me. And in another story a woman was inside her house and on purpose laid down on newspaper she had spread out on the floor in front of the fireplace.

I took this book with me up + back to the ranch today. And this is actually a horse book too: Rachel's parents bought a horse stable in Ireland. And some unknown person now has a vendetta against them. So much scary violence!! But who and why? And what has it to do with werewolves??

I realized this is due at the library soon so started on these short stories. I have to admit there are a few things I don't exactly understand in here due to the time period they were written. Three of the five stories I've read so far feature disabled characters, both physically and mentally. They show scenes of daily life and conversations.

I am going through this book quickly. The stories are bizarre and have twists. There are also this neat vintage looking fake ads in here that are very cool - the art style reminds of of very old comic books. So far my favorite story was the first one, "They Know", with the crows. And "Quiet Suki" was a tad too weird...

I had to do a Google search about the expedition for IM1 off the coast of New Guinea: apparently they did find remains of it. Kind of odd in a way how these Harvard scientists can find tiny fragments of a meteor but yet other searchers can't find a giant passenger plane.. I guess it's because the seismographs had recorded where the meteor had hit the ocean.

The author is talking about an interceptor space rocket capable of meeting the next anomalous interstellar object... Well 3i/Atlas is here and where is this rocket to go investigate it? But then it's way on the other side of the sun so I guess it's moot. But I really don't think we are an interstellar civilization just because we sent some things out into space...
