The child now apparently has a whitlow on the finger and I made the mistake of googling that. Whatever you do, don't Google that! Uggh. The photos of that "injury" were very icky! 🤢 Sometimes there are clear downsides to googling these unfamiliar words!

This story certainly has similarities with the one I just finished this morning; another girl trying to fit in somewhere where she doesn't exactly belong. I wonder how much trouble Miranda will get into while staying at this huge manor house? I suspect plenty as she's not used to those people+ lifestyle.

This is definitely the type of book you could stay up all night reading!! And here it is almost 1 am! 😮 Am I tired? Only a wee bit because this story is way too good! Unsure how this will end. But I am almost finished with it.

Gillian is turning into the most awful girl! Before she was so super honest and was worrying about any little thing she did wrong and now she is the exact opposite! Dreadful! This peer pressure is absolutely rotten!

This story suddenly took a very dark and unexpected twist, something I didn't expect. Some of these wealthy girls are very unwise and they sure cause the most awful nightmare scenarios! And it's so unnecessary but because they don't think... And poor Gillian is just stuck with it too. How unfortunate for her!

I am very hooked on this one! And what a house Thornleigh is! Parts are horribly damaged from a fire years ago and yet they are living there! Bats inside the house and rotten floors and tons of woods...and Violet has the most unusual rituals / awkward habits.

I started this book while I was out today. And I can see that Violet is going to totally disrupt the very orderly, school rule following life of Gillian. She already convinced her to go up onto the building's roof, get locked out and then climb down a drainpipe!! 😮 I think this will be a very good book?? It looks promising so far.

I just started this one and it seems that 18 year old Miranda will be going off to this huge estate that the mysterious letter came from. If she's lucky, she won't have to kill chickens over there.

This is getting to be a very serious situation! The question is who or what is outside punching holes in the building to let in the poisonous Mars "atmosphere"?

I seem to be coming near the end of this book. I will finish this tomorrow as it's midnight here. While this has lots of action and dropping depth charges it's not exciting. And I think that is due to the writing style. Perhaps as a movie it would be different?

The captain has been on the bridge in command for 20 hours straight and finally he has sat down as all of the time he has been standing. This is definitely one tough man. He has eaten two sandwiches, drank lots of coffee and there have been no bathroom breaks for him at all. Too busy hunting the U-boats.

This book is quite unusual and not exactly what I was expecting. It seems to be almost entirely commands from the captain/ bridge chatter. People following orders. If I had a dollar for each time the captain says "Very well" in here I'd be rich! He says it a lot.

This is getting very interesting. Makes me wonder how did they know that the blurb they see on the radar is a U-boat? I guess they would know where any Allie submarines are?? Or they make different sounds? But this convoy moving in this zigzag pattern sounds like a headache.

So the captain thinks Parker is "no good" just based on his voice?? I wonder in what way is he no good? He thinks he is "unreliable". I think this bodes I'll. Will he panic during a fight or something?

I am reading this now. I did start this yesterday and didn't get too far due to the late hour. But I am hoping for an exciting naval story. I have seen those Horatio Hornblower films which is apparently from the same author?? Loved those. But Krause is already facing a difficult problem. Tough decision to make! Keep the fleet together or go after a U-boat?

I was a tad unsure about this book when I had first started it, but it's a great story full of action and weird events. I wanted to read something creepy and this is fitting the bill perfectly! It also has made lots of ideas pop into my head too. Like the words "fairy circle"? Is that what it is? But you saw weird stuff in a dream but now you see the same weird stuff while awake!

I am almost done with this book. The story has been very predictable.

Well this book is finally picking up the pace a bit. I feel that things are going to get more serious now? I believe I am about halfway through??

This one is moving a tad slow so far... It hints at stuff but not much action yet (although someone has died). At the moment I'm unsure if the story will pick up the pace? I also feel that it's pretty obvious what is going on too so no big secrets yet or any suspense.

This book is a true delight to read! I just love this type of story about kids. They go back to a more innocent time. And simple problems.

I think we found a spy doing mighty suspicious activity...

Well this is a mystery all right but it's not exactly clear to me who the suspects are or what exactly is going on - probably because it's spy related. But some unknown individuals are after Smiley because he is poking his nose where they don't want it. There's action in here too. I presume he will catch the bad guy in the end.

So the story is picking up speed now, with a death, but I also find myself confused. The dead man was being looked into because allegations against him included "university membership and vague talk".. is it illegal to go to a university?? Since when?? I will read more and perhaps it will be explained.

Wow... My crazy guess of who the murderer was - it was correct!!

Well I am quite confused now. This famous detective seems to think what I see as "minor details" plays a big part in the murder. But I don't see how? I mean Cora was killed for what she had blurted out not because of her hobbies... Right? Hmmm...

I have to say before I went to sleep last night I sure was thinking a lot about this book! I was considering the various suspects and which ones I think are the most likely to be the killer. And I do have a sort of list but my top choice is also kind of ... Weird? So I don't know how likely I am to get this correct. But this story is definitely fueling my imagination.

This book is very addictive! But who is the murderer??

I am quite caught up in this story about a poor working boy and the tiger he meets who needs help.

This book is oddly fascinating and easy to read. But I have to admit there is confusion if this is fiction or nonfiction as my library had this in the nonfiction area so? But it seems like diary entries where this woman is talking about her friend Maisie.

It's Thursday so that means another horse book. And this one is a pleasure to read! It has danger, mystery and vivid details in the description. Just love the environment that Matt is riding through on his horse, Buck. Matt is trying to build himself a new life so he can settle down after being a fast gunslinger but others want that ranch.
