How is there still ELEVEN HOURS of this book left uuuuhggggggh

I keep saying that nobody in this series is having a good time, but actually Crummock is having a fucking blast and is a delight to experience, so probably I can expect him to meet a horrible end any time now.

Why isn’t this more fun to read

Most of the first half of this was a real slog, but things picked up at the 60% mark!

This romance is so boring

I’ve got barely an hour left in this audiobook and uuuuuuugh I GUESS I can make it to the end

For a book about magically-gifted Chefs with unimpeachable palates, there is a shocking lack of both fabulous cooking and also descriptions of incredible food.

There are some real holes in the world logic that I am trying to get past, for instance, no one has lived in the house for over a decade, but only the blankets in one cupboard are moth eaten (not the ones on the beds or the clothing left behind)? Just details left unattended for convenience. It's fine, really, it's fine. Don't be a stickler, come on.
