Josh was getting bullied pretty badly, his father not in his life- other kids bullied him for being a bastard. Him & Brooke move from Queens to her hometown in Upstate NY for a fresh start.

Josh has always been very curious about who his father is, Brooke doesn’t have the heart to tell him the truth..that he’s serving a life sentence at the prison she just got a job at..

11 years ago- Brooke is 17, a good kid w strict parents. She’s a cheerleader dating a football player, Shane. They have to hide their relationship from her parents tho, they don’t approve of him.
Brookes neighbor & friend since forever, Tim, hates Shane, thinks he’s a douche bag. Shane’s mom is outta town so he’s throwing a party, Brooke convinces Tim to come so she can prove Shane isn’t so bad.

In current time Shane is in prison for trying to kill Brooke 🤗

Present: Josh’s first day of school comes around, he’s attending the same school Brooke when to when she was little.
She runs into Tim there, hasn’t seen him since she left town 10 years ago abruptly. Tim is assistant principal to the school, single & hot! It’s a surprise to him that Brooke has a kid, her parents did a pretty good job hiding her pregnancy when she was a teenager, they never approved, wanted her to abort it, she eventually cut them off, hadn’t spoken to them for 5 years prior to their death.
He asks if she wants to get coffee & catch up but she declines, doesn’t rlly wanna get involved w anyone from her past.

Brooke gets Shane as a patient, he got into a yard fight & needs stitches on his forehead, has got tons of scars all over him, won’t tell Brooke who did that to him cause he can’t snitch.
It’s a shock to both of them, seeing each other after so long. Shane keeps saying he’s innocent, that he didn’t kill any of the people he’s accused of.
He asks abt her kid since word has spread that there’s a hot single mother within the prison lol she lies & tells him her kid is only 5 so he won’t realize he’s the dad, he congratulates her…says he’s always wanted kids.
We find out his mom passed too, she died thinking he committed those crimes so he’s sad abt that. His dad was never involved in his life, she feels bad for Josh having to grow up w the same experience.

Brooke is pretty convinced he did kill all those people & he would have killed her too, she’s glad she testified & got him arrested.

Past: Brooke remembers the power going out & someone trying to strangle her w her necklace, remembers smelling Shane’s cologne so she assumes it was him, even testified against him- but she does admit she never saw his face so she can’t 100% confirm it was him.

Tim gets Brooke’s number from the parent directory, asks her out for drinks. Brooke agrees after some convincing from her babysitter, thinks she deserves a fun night out w a handsome man for once.

Past: there are 3 couples attending the party. Brooke & Shane, her bestie Chelsea & her asshole boyfriend Brandon. Tim’s there & they invited a girl named Kayla to match up w him.
Everyone’s playing Never Have I Ever. There was a girl, Tracy, who was found dead the previous year. During the game Shane says “never have I ever gone on a date w Tracy”…Tims the only one who drinks…
Tim says that they only went out on 2 dates a month before she died but she ghosted him so it never went anywhere. Brooke feels weird that he didn’t tell her, they tell each other everything, but doesn’t think it’s suss.

Present: the correctional officer who brings Shane to & from the infirmary, Hunt, hates him, is very aggressive w him, shackles his hands & feet together everytime he brings him.
Shane tells Brooke that Tim was the one who tried to kill her but she doesn’t believe him.
Hunt manhandles Shane when he’s helping him get off the exam table, causing him to hit his head on the corner of a desk, causing concussion. Brooke is pissed, Hunt doesn’t rlly care but it draws the attention of Dorthy, the head nurse who’s v bitchy lol. Dorothy tells Hunt that Shane isn’t a safety risk, doesn’t need to be shackled, they keep him in the infirmary overnight in a private room.

Past: once everyone is sufficiently drunk, they all go off into their couples for make out sessions lol Brooke & Shane go up to his room, the power goes out, he tells her he loves her for the first time & they loose their virginity to each other.
The condom breaks but Shane is very calming to Brooke, saying if she does get pregnant he’ll support whatever she decides- he’s rlly sweet to her. They fall asleep cuddling…Brooke wakes up to Chelsea screaming her name.

Present: Tim shows up at Brooke’s to drop off cookies, sees how old Josh is so Brooke has to admit that Shane’s the father. Tim is weirded out at first & wants to leave but stays to help fix her sink, bonds w Josh a little & sees that he’s actually a rlly sweet kid. Agrees to come back tomorrow to work on more house stuff w Josh.

Past: Brooke & Shane go out to see what’s wrong, Tim & kayla follow them down. They find Chelsea outside crying over Brandon’s body, he’s dead, lying on the ground w blood all over his chest.
Kayla starts freaking out accusing everyone of being the killer cause she doesn’t know them too well. The girls all get together to leave but find all their tires are slashed, the landline isn’t working so they’re all trapped there now- it’s raining super hard too so that only makes leaving harder.
Chelsea puts a blanket over Brandon’s body, has to go lay down bc she’s having a panic attack. Kayla locks herself in a room upstairs. Tim looks under the blanket, sees Brandon has stab wounds, checks the kitchen for knives & finds they’re all missing, he tells Brooke when they’re alone, hints that he thinks it was Shane.

Present: as the month goes by, Tim comes over almost everynight for dinner, does tons of home repairs around Brooke’s house. One night he comes over wearing the same scent aftershave Shane wore from that night…
Their friendship has been just that- strictly friendship until one night he kisses her, confesses that he’s been in love w her since they were kids, that every girl he’s every dated wouldn’t work bc they weren’t Brooke…
She decides to let things get out of the friend zone but in the back of her head she’s got Shane telling her that Tim is dangerous…


Past: Tim gets a baseball bat, him & Brooke agree to stay together. They go back out to the living room w Chelsea, Shane returns from trying to get signal outside- no luck. They all go up to check on Kayla, they find her stabbed to death in one of the rooms…
Tim & Shane go back & forth accusing each other. The girls lock themselves in a room away from them cause they think it’s gotta be one of them. Brooke can’t believe either of them would do it- she loved Shane & she’s known Tim since they were in diapers, she thinks he’s the most innocent person she’s ever met.

Present: Tim brings over their old yearbook, they find a pic of the correctional officer, Hunt, in there. Brooke didn’t realize they went to highschool together, Tim remembers him tho- tells her Shane beat him up way back when. Now Hunts aggression toward Shane makes sense. Brooke is pissed he didn’t mention that they went to highschool together, especially since he’s been making creepy comments abt wanting to take her out recently.
She confronts Hunt abt highschool, he reveals that he knows all the dirt- he’s driven past her house even & knows she has a kid & is dating Tim! Threatens to tell Dorothy abt her connection to Shane & get her fired! Now she’s gotta play nice w him since he has the upper hand.

Past: locked in a room together, Chelsea tells Brooke she thinks Tim is the killer. Brooke is of course in denial- couldn’t be her best friend- NEVERRRR lolol! Chelsea says she thinks he did it cause he’s in love w Brooke & jealous she’s w Shane, that it makes sense for it to be him considering he went on dates w the girl who turned up dead & kept it a secret…Brooke is in complete denial that Tim likes her as more than a friend lol girl come on

Present- it’s Brooke’s bday, Tim lowkey ruins it by getting her a snowflake necklace- exactly like the one she was strangled w that night…At dinner he tries suggesting her to get a differnt job, doesn’t want her working w Shane, gets offended when Brooke says she’s not 100% sure if he’s guilty anymore.
The night everything happened, Tom ended up w a stab wound to the stomach, he claims Shane did it & he had to hit him a a baseball bat to fight him off. Says Shane was gonna kill her next…
When Brooke gets home that night she takes a closer look at the necklace. The one she had 11 years ago was missing a diamond- so is the current one. Tim says he got it from a flea market in town- Brooke knows he’s lying. She always assumed the necklace was in evidence w police but clearly it’s not- she’s still in denial tho- won’t even consider Tim could be the killer cause he’s her boyfriend now lol girl come onnnuhhh
