The lady was super bitchy to her, seemed jealous that Brooke was on a date w Tim.
Now that lady pops up on the news, she was reported missing after not showing up to work, found dead. When Brooke asks Tim abt it he plays it off then abruptly goes home- very suss! Again, Brooke is like “no wayyyy, not Tim”

Past: Brooke turns on Chelsea when she starts accusing Tim of being the killer, accuses Chelsea of killing her own bf for cheating & then killing kayla for catching on. Brooke runs out of the room screaming for Tim & Shane but can’t find them, it’s too dark to see anything. When she gets downstairs she feels blood on the floor & then someone starts strangling her from behind w her necklace. She thinks it’s Tim at first till she smells the aftershave Shane wears, now she’s convinced it’s Shane. The necklace breaks & she’s able to get away, runs out of the house & flags down a car passing by.
When police arrive at the house they find kayla, Brandon & Chelsea all stabbed to death. Shane unconscious. According to Tim, after Brooke ran out, Shane attacked him w a knife, Tim fought him off & knocked him out w a baseball bat.
Shane says that Tim was the one stabbing everyone, stabbed himself & knocked Shane out to pin it on him.
Brooke testifies that Shane did it cause she smelled his aftershave…

Present: Shane gets beat up again, has to see the nurse. Brooke slips up abt her son’s age..admits that Shane is the father. He doesn’t ask to meet him, only to see photos, says he wouldn’t want his son to see him in here.
Brooke is still trying to convince herself he’s a monster even tho she’s starting to think he’s innocent more & more, getting more sus of Tim.

Brooke has dinner at Tim’s place, she finds a woman’s scarf stuffed into his couch, smells like womens perfume too- he says it’s his moms lol. He tells her to go downstairs to get a bottle of wine, when she goes downstairs she sees a dead body sticking out from under a tarp…
Tim suprisingly opens the door a few seconds later, acting like nothing happened…Brooke is like I’m leaving, he’s confused, begs her to stay as the police pull up & knock on his door. They got an anonymous tip saying the missing woman was last seen at entering his house so they showed up at perfect timing. Brooke snitches immediately, she tells them he wouldn’t let her leave & has a body downstairs. He panics & begs them not to go down there, then he’s arrested when they find the lady’s body.

2 months later- Brooke gets a new job, Tim is in jail waiting for his trail. He was stalking that girl while he was dating Brooke…
She also tells police her testimony against Shane was incorrect, she got things wrong. Shane gets out of jail, he’ll be staying w Brooke since he doesn’t have any family anymore. They tell Josh that Shane is just a friend, they plan on eventually telling him the truth just not sure how to approach it.
Josh says that Shane is ok after meeting him, doesn’t seem too fond of him, asks when he’s leaving…

Shane & Brooke fuckk but afterward she can’t fall asleep w him, goes back to her room while he sleeps in the guest room. She has nightmares abt the traumatizing night, keeps feeling like she should remember something but her head is blocking it out.
She wakes up at 3am to the sound of a car engine, looks outside to see tire marks coming from the garage. She thinks she should go check on Shane or maybe the car but does nothing cause she’d rather not know the answer.
The next day she notices her keys aren’t where she usually keeps them…

Shane inherited his mom’s house- the house everyone died at- he wants to fix it up so he can live in it. Brooke thinks he’s crazy for wanting to go back there, agrees to give him a ride but not to go inside.
Shane doesn’t listen to her- he asks Josh if he wants to come, now Brooke will feel like the bad guy saying no. They go inside too!
Brooke lets Shane take Josh on a walk through the woods alone while she stays inside to let them bond even tho she’s pissed Shane is pushing limits!
She reads the news online while she waiting…sees Hunt was found dead- now she’s like this mf took my car last night!

She starts to regain repressed memories being inside there- remembers hearing Chelsea’s muffles screams while someone was strangling her w the necklace downstairs…realizes that Tim & Shane did it together.
Brooke thinks that they killed that girl who went missing together, then planned the whole farmhouse massacre & when Brooke survived, Tim switched up on Shane to save his own ass.

Brooke calls Shane to get him to bring Josh back, she tries playing nice but Shane knows she caught on, his nice guy act is gone.
He took the car keys & tells Brooke that she can suffer now without Josh, like he had to. Dude even admits to killing the girl who went missing 11 years ago.
Brooke tries flagging down a car passing by to call police cause she lost cell service- it’s Margie, her baby sitter, driving by…Brooke tries to get her to call the cops or drive her to the station but Margie is like he’s w his dad calm down..pulls out a gun on her & reveals she ain’t margieeee, she’s Shane’s mom.

We find out Tim’s innocent, Margie was Shane’s accomplice. They targeted Tim so they could pin it all on him, planned on leaving him alive so he’d take the fall.
Margie took the spare key Tim had given to Brooke to get into his house to plant the body of the other lady, all to make it look like Tim was behind everything & Shane would get outta jail.

The real reason why Brooke’s parents didn’t want her dating Shane was cause her dad had an affair w Shane’s mom when the kids were 5…he was supposed to leave Brooke’s mom to be w Shane’s but ended up staying w his family. Margie hated Brooke & her mom ever since, jealous of the life they got to live while she struggled as a single mom…the night of the massacre the only person who was supposed to die was Brooke. Margie says that when she explained everything that happened to Shane- he was the one who came up w the idea to kill Brooke…says he’d do anything to protect his mom…

Margie caused the car accident that killed Brooke’s parents so she’d come back to town…

Margie is abt to shoot Brooke, they plan on saying it was a robbery gone wrong while Shane was in the woods w Josh. There’s a loud noise that distracts Margie, Brooke fights the gun away from her, shoots her.
Josh comes running out of the woods, a bunch of snow & icicles conveniently fell on Shane, killing him lol

1 month later- Margie survived the gunshot, now that Shane’s dead she admits everything. Shane killed the 1st girl on accident, she helped cover it up, that gave them the idea to kill Brooke for revenge.
Margie found out abt Josh through social media, orchestrated everything so she could get rid of Brooke & get Josh.
Tim is released from jail after he’s proven innocent. Brooke never tells Josh that Shane was his dad & Margie was his grandmom.
Tim is pissed at Brooke for not believing him all along but he forgives her cause he’s stupidly in love w her.

We end the book w a chapter from Josh…he casually explains how when Tim first started coming around, he had a very serious talk w him…Tim warned Josh that one day a dangerous man named Shane might come along, to not trust him bc he wants to hurt Brooke…
Soooo when Shane took Josh into the woods, he overheard how rude he was talking to Brooke on the phone, saw all the icicles on the trees..he shook the branches, causing all that to fall on Shane. Then he picked up an icicle & smashed him in the head over & over till he stopped moving…he’s proud of himself too, says he’d do anything to protect his mom…
Turned out a lot more like his dad than we thought!
