Lowen runs into him again at the office, turns out he’s one of the people she’s having her meeting w.

In the meeting Lowen is offered a job finishing a famous authors book series. The author, Verity, is Jeremy’s wife, she recently had a car accident & can’t finish the series, wants to hire a cowriter to finish the last 3 books & do press tours. They offer her 75k for each book. Lowen declines the offer, she’s super awkward & hates socializing so she’s like no thanks lol.

Jeremy asks to speak alone w Lowen, confides in her that they used to have 2 daughters that passed within 6 months of each other…Tragedy after tragedy has struck the couple. He also tells her to ask for more money- half a million! Plus to write under a fake name & not do any press tours if that’s what’s holding her back. She agrees.

Lowen’s mom passed away the week prior, she had been battling cancer & Lowen was taking care of her full time, hadn’t left the house in weeks before today..As sad as she feels loosing her mom, she also feels relieved not having the pressure of taking care of her anymore.

Lowen does some research into what happened to Verity & Jeremy’s kids- their 1st daughter had an allergic reaction at a sleep over & passed away from that. The 2nd daughter drowned in the lake behind their house one day when Jeremy wasn’t home..he found her body & was the only to pull her out of the water…
Verity’s car accident- she crashed her car into a tree, there were no skid marks either so people think she either passed out or crashed on purpose…

Lowen is getting evicted from her apartment, she’s gotta be out in 2 days. She plans on going up to Jeremy’s house to go through Verity’s office, read all her notes on the book series, might take her a few days.

Lowen drives 6 hours to get to Jeremy’s house in Vermont. She meets their 5 year old son when she arrives, Crew. Jeremy introduces her to Verity- she’s bedridden & has a nurse, she awake but doesn’t respond or make any movements, just lays there staring at the ceiling…

Verity’s office is huge, very unorganized. It’s pretty obvious Lowen will have to stay there longer than expected to go through everything. She’s in there for hours reading the books in Verity’s series, going through files & notes..she comes upon an autobiography called So Be It, indulges her curiosity…

So Be It-
Verity met Jeremy at a charity event, her goal was to meet a rich investor to get her writing career started but instead met him. He swept her off her feet, they flirted & joked, he brought her out to a limo & they make out in there. Jeremy isn’t rich tho lol the limo isn’t his & they have to run off when the driver gets back in the car.
Jeremy is exciting & makes her feel alive, she’s super attracted to & intrigued by him. He takes her home & she doesn’t leave for 3 days, considers it love at first sight.
6 months into dating & they haven’t spent a night apart, they’re so in love & inseparable, everything’s perfect. Verity stops paying for her apartment & doesn’t tell Jeremy abt it, 2 months pass before he asks her to move in & she tells him she technically already has…he’s a little offended she didn’t tell him but is cool w it.
They’re together almost 2 years when Jeremy moves out to LA for work temporarily, Verity is rlly sad & lonely without him & long distance sucks for her, she writes her first book during this time- whenever she would obsess over how much she missed Jeremy she would write abt it, created a character after him, wrote an entire novel! When he got back from LA she didn’t want him to read it, too embarrassed lol but he takes the manuscript, locks himself in the bathroom w it, reads for a little - tells verity how good it is. She lets him read the rest while she goes to bed.
He wakes her up when he finishes it, tells her how amazed he is by her, that’s she’s brilliant & so talented, going to be so famous! They start fucking & he asks her to marry him while he’s literally inside her..she asks why & he says he’s her biggest fan…
Verity says yes & after sex he pulls a ring out of his jeans- he was planning to purpose the whole time 🥹 weird but cute I guess lol
They also conceive their first child that night 😅 the beginning to the end of their fairytale…

Present- Lowen gets denied for an apartment she was hoping to move into now that she’s all moved out of her last place, Jeremy overhears & offers her to stay longer , she agrees to stay for 2 weeks- gives her even more time to go through the office & read Verity’s autobiography..

So Be It-
Verity does not like the attention her UNBORN child is receiving from Jeremy lol she gets mad when he admits that he loves the baby more than anything- even more than her…
They find out they’re having twin girls & verity hates it even more- she doesn’t want 2 kids especially girls- doesn’t want anyone taking more of Jeremy’s attention away from her! - girl get a grip!
At 4 months pregnant she flat out wants a miscarriage! Starts secretly drinking alcohol & taking pills in hopes they’ll die!
At 5 months she literally tries giving herself an abortion w a wire hanger in the bathroom while Jeremy sleeps!! Then she goes & lays in bed after so that when he wakes up & sees all the blood, he’ll be so worried abt her, giving her all his attention again- girl is fucked in the head

Present- we learn Verity has brain damage from the car wreck, pretty much has the mind of an infant now, doctors say she’ll never walk, talk or be able to do anything ever again, just has basic reflexes- can eat, drink, blink but that’s abt it.

In Verity’s biography there’s a bunch of steamy sex scenes w Jeremy…& seeing/reading how good of a dad & husband he is, Lowen starts crushing on him- ofccc


Lowen has been there abt a week by this point, one day she hears a loud bang come from verity’s room & hears Crew cry, runs up to find him bleeding on his chin & there’s a knife on the floor…he says the knife is his moms..when Jeremy comes in Crew tells him that he fell & there was no knife…they take Crew to the bathroom to clean him up, when Lowen goes back in to get the knife, it’s gone…She tries looking for it & notices Verity in bed staring at her…
By this point Lowen is super creeped out by her & hates being around her. Is unsettled by the autobiography but keeps reading that night to get to know her more.

So Be It-
The abortion attempts don’t work, when the twins are born verity pretends to be happy just to please Jeremy, she’s disgusted by the babies, literally hates them & hates how much Jeremy loves them already.
She has no maternal instincts so once they take the babies home she def struggles, barely gets any sleep but still puts on a show of taking good care of the girls for Jeremy.
Eventually he has to go back to work, her books haven’t gotten popular yet so the pay from them isnt enough to live off of.
With Jeremy at work, Verity sleeps all morning & leaves the girls in their beds crying, turns the baby monitor off so she doesn’t have to hear them!
Before Jeremy came home from work each night, she would finally tend to the babies & cook dinner, Jeremy would return to calm babies & a happy wife so he thought everything was fine. W verity sleeping all day, she caught up on writing during the nights, furthering her wiring career even more- loving her life neglecting her babies.

The twins are abt 6 months now, they’re named Chastin & Harper, verity still hates them.
Verity has a dream one night, they twins are abt 8 & she walks in on Harper trying to smother Chastin w a pillow, Verity experiences her first maternal feelings toward Chastin. The idea of loosing her makes Verity rlly upset, she starts to feel love toward Chastin but hates Harper now, vilanizes her.
One day after her dream, Harper is crying while Chastin sleeps, when verity goes in to check on them she’s disappointed it wasn’t Chastin that needed tending to.
She starts convincing herself that she needs to protect Chastin from Harper, that she’s gonna grow up & try killing her sister so Verity tries suffocating Harper! Shoves her fingers down the babies throat! Thankfully Jeremy walks in & verity acts like she was just rubbing her! - crazy bitch wth

The twins are abt 3 now, Verity’s 2nd book has gotten a lot of success so they move out to Vermont w the money from that. Verity hires a nanny for when Jeremy is at work, so now she basically never has to take care of her kids- the nanny coming in once Jeremy leaves for work & stays until he gets home.
Jeremy notices how much more attention verity gives Chastin compared to Harper, calls her out for it, says that they’re getting older & she needs to treat them equally. She comes up w some bullshit excuse abt Harper possibly being on the spectrum so that’s why she treats her differently - uhm girl…Then she lies & tells Jeremy she’s pregnant again to avoid arguing further, has no problem faking a miscarriage next if she can’t get pregnant soon.
