May revisit and also may try other books in the series only because fmcs are Poc and curvy/tall/plus size. However looking at book covers seems like they don’t have any black mmc also one friend mentions not wanting to date “thugs” which was a bit of a turn off for me. So I’m on the fence

Additionally there was a lot of secondhand trauma between her near rape scene and MCs experience seeing someone attacked in front of him just seemed a bit heavy for the writing style. I wanted to like this as the mmc seemed besotted but their interactions were too hot and cold. Also it seems FMC attacker is making a reappearance

FMC decides she wants to put herself out there but wants to loose weight to be more attractive mmc owns the gym and falls hard for her immediately. There is cringy bullying by ow. There’s a lot of back and forth by FMC on being afraid of mmc and even more cringe interactions between the mcs. Her friends are over involved and ultimately the build up was just not there

I really tried with this book. FMC is black and all her friends in the other books are Poc which I was super excited about. But the writing is pretty poor and cringy at times. FMC was sa in college and was rescued by a group of girls who become her besties. Years later they’re all single and she is terrified of men especially big strong guys.
