“Move.” I snapped, it sounded much harsher than I intended, but I wasn’t going to let this guy get to me.
The playfulness returned as he came closer to my face. “Like, I said, Guppy. Or what?”
“Move, Apollo.” A razor-sharp voice came to our left. I felt a shock as relief filled me to see Vincent standing there. Still wearing his crisp button up top and slacks.

Go dame. 5 stars. I loved how realistic this book was. How every relationship mattered and tied back to create our characters. I also loved Grace’s parents. It’s not often u read a book where the world is set in a polygamy setting and the parents are still alive and are polyamorous. That was refreshing. I’ll probably read the next book. Like tomorrow.

I think new circle members are revealed when all current members touch. Like if Apollo and Grace touched Dylan at the same time? I’m not giving up on Dylan and Vincent being circle member. I’m still not sure about Kai but he appears enough for it to be a possibility.

I bet Apollo was with Vincent.
He casually smoked as people came over to us,Lucas happily soaked in the attention. He was like a king as people came to him with a type of adoration, each knowing Lucas, each congratulating us drunkenly on finding each other.

Ah. Lucas’s fathers were over come with grief at the loss of 2 circle members and a child that they neglected the children they still had. And the environment said children lived in. By the time they snapped out of their grief they witnessed everything and decided the problem was too big to handle. Now all they do is provide financially.

So many questions were waiting for me to ask. Why a koi fish? Did that hold meaning? And why was he hiding it?
“Did you get that new pain you were longing for?” It felt unnerving asking that question. I didn’t want him to be in pain at all.
“Not really, I was still recovering, and my leg was useless at the time. But there were some moments I treasured.

Oh yah I’m going with my theory on Grace being the heart of the circle meaning people only recognize each as being part of the circle once they touch Grace. That’s why Dylan was sad when he found on Grace and Apollo were in the same circle. Because Dylan had obviously touch Apollo and felt nothing.

I focused on the sheet trying to ignore my guilt at feeling that way. My hand shook as I put the information correctly. Apollo was quick and had already finished before he shifted behind me. I could feel his heat and the shift of my hair as he breathed in and out. I felt the tug of my soul. It rippled with attention.
It felt like he was dancing with it. Wild and untamed, that’s what his soul did to me.

“Fucking tap that pencil again, I dare you!” Apollo shouted as he pointed at Carson with aggression, making some of the other students struggle to hold both of them back. Carson pulled against the various hands as he came back with his own curses.
“You are fucking crazy, man!” He shouted as he rubbed away blood from his eyebrow that was starting to swell.

Not to sure about Kai being part of the circle now.
The first break came quickly. We were all hanging out in the cafeteria before Julia jumped in one of the spare seats at our table that we were sitting around.
“Transfers! End of next month, it’s been confirmed!” Julia said to Kristina and Hannah.

Apollo/ Lucas’s mom probably died on his birthday or giving birth to him or saving him.
And he created a new persona to hide his grief.

And he created a new persona to hide his grief.

Apollo stood up straighter as he looked over at Vincent. His body seemed to puff up as he cocked his head slightly as he looked between him and me. He seemed a little lost, but then he focused on Vincent with a smile that looked like trouble.
“You’re ruining our fun, Vincent.” He flicked his wrist at him, shooing him away. “Go and suck on principle Mason’s left breast. We all know how much you love to suck up to her.”
I gasped.
Vincent moved with speed that jarred me. Vincent had Apollo by his throat, slamming his body against the row of lockers making Apollo grunt. His group of friends behind me made noises of distress but no one moved to help.
Apollo became red in the face while Vincent looked calm. He wasn’t bothered by this. They both seemed to produce a type of fire between them as they stared at each other.
Vincent had a command I had never seen anyone hold before. He went close to Apollo’s face as he spoke low and slow.
“It’s funny that you actually believe that mouth of yours is smart. While in fact, everyone knows who does the most sucking in this school.” He whispered the last line so softly I just barely heard it.
I looked around. Shouldn’t someone get a teacher? But the entire group was tense as they watched the two guys. No one made a move to get help. Help for who, I didn’t know.
Apollo’s eyes widened before his redden face smiled again. I didn’t understand why he didn’t try and break out of Vincent’s grip. Didn’t people hate being restricted? But Apollo stood there as he smirked.
“You need to be careful, Vin-” he gurgled slightly as Vincent squeezed his grip before lessening. “Someone might think you love me.” Apollo laughed loudly at his own remark.
Vincent made a disgusted noise as he rolled his eyes, but he let Apollo go, who was still laughing. “Get out of here, Apollo.”
The group followed a laughing Apollo down the hall. Some gave a nervous chuckle while others shook their heads and proceeded to pull him away as he turned back round to shout down the hall, “See you soon, Guppy!” He looked me in the eye as they went around the corner.
“Idiot.” Vincent mumbled as he shifted his glasses up higher. He looked down at me. I wondered what I looked like to him. Lost maybe? Because I felt it, was this normal?
“So, you met Apollo.” Vincent gestured down the hall where the group went. “He is a loudmouth, so just ignore him. He loves the attention and would do anything for it,” he breathed with a shake of his head. He looked like he didn’t just hold another guy by his throat.
“Was that… normal?” I questioned, finally able to open my locker and put my stuff inside.
“Normal for Apollo.” He frowned at the floor as the silence came between us, thickening the air.
I didn’t know what to say, apart from a little “Thank you.”
He nodded as he adjusted his glasses again. Was that a nervous gesture? “If you don’t want anyone to touch you, you must voice it. But I will spread the word around that you’re… uneasy about being touched.”
His tone sounded bored, but I appreciated it, nevertheless. I had a slight doubt anyone would listen to him.
“Thank you,” I said again. My cheeks felt hot with embarrassment. I didn’t know how I felt about Vincent looking after me. It felt uneasy but reassuring at the same time.
Vincent looked at me for a moment, his gaze was stern, but his eyes looked over my face. I tried to read what he was thinking, but his face was blank, and I didn’t know what he wanted me to do or say.
“I appreciate you helping me, but I don’t want to burden you.” I said filling the thick silence. I couldn’t even meet his intense steel eyes.
“If you appreciate it, just say thank you and be done with it.” He snapped, making me jolt back at the change of his attitude. He then left me in the corridor without looking back at me, his head held high. My stomach clenched as I clasped my hands together. So, I guess that answered what he was thinking, I was an inconvenience.
What a jerk.
