What a closing chapter. I was unsure why he held the offices chapter to the end, but this was a marvelous capstone that summarized (as much as is possible) the glorious contents of this book.

Mostly worth it for the list of all the names of Christ at the end. This chapter (and the next, it seems) are like summaries of the whole book.

On Christ's Face is two chapters in one. The first is a concise, effective summary of Owen's useful teaching on sight by faith vs actual sight. The second is a theological argument for prudence regarding images of Christ. Jones lands against their usefulness without even referencing the Second commandment. At a minimum, people should read this chapter before watching the Chosen or buying a Jesus Storybook Bible.

Strong, concise case for theophanies be the Son of God, accented with the implications this has for Christ as Judge. Also highlights the goodness of a final judgment for believers, which rarely is noted in preachers. Eternal rewards must be considered for believers to rightly approach Christ as Judge.

Had never considered the relation between Christ’s person and the Church as his “fullness.” Jones’s typical emphasis on Christ as the Church’s pattern is present and welcome, as always.

Some speculation colors intercession chapter.

Resurrection chapter was starred. Great non-technical application of inseperable operations. Again, Jones nails the importance of Christ as exemplifying what believers can hope for. He is less effective in the Ascension chapter, though still helpful.

Focus here is again on the person of Christ and especially the intra trinitarian dynamics of the Cross, which are underappreciated on the whole. I’ll need to figure out which Charnock work he kept quoting.

Really hits on the purpose of each miracle. Well done.
Also, in hindsight, I love the chapter on the Spirit. Much more useful than theological (read "not exegetical") treatments of Christ's Messianic ministry.

I had never noticed the parallels between the transfiguration and the cross. The centrality of the high-low-high motif in Christ’s story is not to be overlooked.
