“Torture would do it,” Draco whispered into Harry’s ear.
Nope, it sure wouldn’t; I’ve read multiple books on why is that stupid and wrong opinion. But people barely know that know, let alone in the post-9/11 zeitgeist.

One weird thing about this book has been some descriptions of Harry’s appearance: Draco’s POV has a line about Harry’s curls, and Snape recently mentioned something about copper undertones in Harry’s hair. Are we supposed to picture Connor as canon Harry and TSA Harry as sometime else? I’ve been picturing Harry regular Harry and Connor as an OC with reddish brown hair.

How am I supposed to clock back in and proofread advertisements when Snape is taking over Hogwarts :/

It was bad enough when teachers would kneel to get on Harry’s level when he was eleven, but that they’re doing it when he’s sixteen is entirely ridiculous. He’s probably taller than most women in his life at this point.

That fight with Falco was a little anticlimactic, unfortunately, and I felt the same way about Harry’s battle with the stone earlier.

@Tea, hey, good memory! Snape is punishing Harry by making him read fairy tales and other kidlit.

Was this thestral situation transplanted from WTStSaS? None of it aligns with all the character growth Harry has had this book.
(Also, I can't believe he had to cut the fuck out of his arm and lose a dangerous amount of blood to free the thestral, unless every link of the chain had to be entirely coated in it. Prick a finger, run it around the circumference of the hoof, repeat thrice, the end.)

Decorating a room you’re going to stay in for two nights max is such a bizarre thing to do.

I guess I don’t understand, if Harry wanted some time by himself to brood so badly, he didn’t just go to the hospital wing for magical exhaustion after saving the school. Pomfrey would have kept everyone out if he’d asked, and he wouldn’t have had people staring at him in class all day.

We knew it in the post-9/11 zeitgeist too. At least, those of us with brains did. There have been arguments against torture as an effective interrogation tool since at least the ancient Greeks--though it was used in ancient Greek and Roman legal systems. Jewish law bans it entirely on both moral and practical grounds. It's only people who want an excuse to continue treating people they consider inferior like animals who insist it's effective.

Which means I'd say Draco should be smarter than to suggest such a thing, but then again he DOES consider lots of people inferior. So I suppose it checks out.
