Re-reading this. It's been too long since I put it down. It's an amazing book and I'm glad I've started over. Appreciate it more.

The Rome interlude gets to be somewhat tedious after a while.

My puppy escaped from her crate and rampaged through the house and ate my copy of this book. Will have to buy another one to finish the last 20 pages or so. I don't know if that means she liked the story or not, but she certainly found it tasty.

There is a lingering sadness with this book that stays with me.

Power reading through this so I can finish it and move on. I like it, but I think the more compact, less drawn out movie adaption is better.

The writing is lovely but at some point you just want the characters to get on with it and consummate their love. Lots of navel gazing. Will be glad to be done with this.

I am reading too many books at a time right now. Bad me. I need to stop that. I like to focus on 2 books at once. Max. I picked this up for some reason and I'm enjoying it but it is not a Harlequin or even a romance novel. It's literary fiction and not a quick read. Enjoying it, but can only do so much of it at once. Loved the movie.

Hiroto I still feel so ambivalent about this one

Hrvo I'm glad you're giving it a second chance :)

I find I am enjoying it better the 2nd time through. Appreciating the writing more. Not sure how it ends though since I never got that far thanks to my dog Dinkerbell chewing up the book.

Well, I didn't give up on it the first time around. My dog ate the book. Literally. Just taking me a loooong time to get back to it.

My goal is to finish it and write my review this weekend. We'll see how it goes.

Completely second that! It could definitely have done with that part being cut a lot shorter. :)
