Arta reads at night This series is waiting for meeee.
Have to finish Sha Po Lang. And maybe yuwu (waiting on bookish friends to get to the point I’m at).
And then this baby is next ☺️

Evie @Arta I love this series! It is however the first time I've needed a character map when reading lol I mention it in my review of the first book the website and I encourage everyone to use it lol this one is certainly more complicated than most Danmei!

Arta reads at night Evie, awesome.
I’ll need to find the map!

I have to say that character chart of yuwu and erha helped me tremendously while reading both. So I’m a great fan of those things 😎

Evie @Arta if you have trouble when you get to it my DMs are open and I can point you in the right direction ❤️

angry axolotl Damn, I really need to get started on this. Maybe I should just wait until the rest of the volumes are out so I can binge (and not get confused) xD

Evie @angry axolotl honestly it wouldn't be the worst idea lol I love this series but it's definitely one of the more challenging Danmei out there when it comes to keeping track of details

Teru Having and needing a character map is something I have yet to experience lol, sounds like a fun time xD though I think I'll need to have a few more less challenging danmei under my belt first...
Happy reading, Evie ❤️

Evie @Teru hahaha I feel like QJJ is perhaps not the best place to start when it comes to historical Danmei with all its court intrigue. I could imagine it being a little intimidating if you aren't used to the terms and details 😂 it's a great read if you get to the point of giving it a crack

Nel are u reading this for the first time?

Arta reads at night Evie thanks 🥰

Arta reads at night Teru, I would suggest to start with Sha po lang. it’s pretty easy to follow. Easier than other danmei works I’ve read. Most of the others take a certain amount of energy to get into and to understand who is related to whom and why 😂

Alexia Happy reading♡
I've been putting off reading this for so long that now I don't know when I will ever be ready to read it :))

Nancy •͙͙✧⃝•͙͙✩ͯ happy reading!

Ooh okay, thank you for the rec! 😳 I'll keep it in mind ❤️ I wanted to pick Guardian but it's supposedly really heavy on the Chinese mythology so probably not a good idea for a danmei newbie 🙈

Sorry for spamming here, Evie!! ❤️

Arta reads at night Sorry Evie, but I have to spam again 🙈😂

Teru, I’ve read Guardian. It wasn’t bad. But it wasn’t GOOD. Sha po lang is def better. The yearning. Maaan. And while the content isn’t explicit (it’s a Priest thing), the tension and hints omg 🔥

angry axolotl Yeah, so I've heard xD You know what? I've put it off for the last 5 years or so, so I can probably wait for a little while longer. Haha, but I'm so excited to read this for weeks on end!

Evie @Nel I sure am hahahahah I stumbled into Danmei during the lockdowns and hyper fixated on TGCF and MDZ for a few years before realising THERE WAS A WHOLE OTHER WORLD OF STORIES LIKE IT lol so I am a little slower to explore than a lot of others lol

message 18: by Evie (new) - rated it 4 stars

Evie @Arta and @Teru I love the discussion, please never apologise for spamming hahaha When i read the first volume I thought it was a more accessible point to danmei that includes some supernatural elements because its still set in a modern time, but that was come from the perspective of someone who had read a few cultivation danmei already so there is probably some inherit bias there I didnt know I had. Sometimes I think its almost better to just dive in and ask for clarification if you need it lol theres always a lot of guides and information online to clarify if needed (and my DMs are always open) ❤️

Evie @Alexia thanks lovely! I love this story so far but I'll admit that its a had one to read with the breaks between volumes cause so many actors are up to shenanigans that having to pick up all the plot threads can be hard. I hope you find time to give it a chance in the future! ❤️
