Chapter 1 in Notebook 5 made me so annoyed with Lazi. But also proud of her. She spells out EVERYTHING she’s done wrong and how she is frankly the cause of her own isolation. But then comes to the conclusion that she should continue doing it, and that she’s right for it. UGH. It’s so hard to read bc I know I do this exact thing. I see the ways I’ve self sabotaged and dig a deeper hole bc I feel I deserve it

There’s a section on page 54 that encapsulates how imposed sexual shame can deeply affect one’s understanding of self - even someone who is self accepting. Lazi feels like a beast, having to hide away while acknowledging that she has done nothing wrong. It’s worded so well. But this section could also be interpreted as what it’s like to be a taboo minority yk.
