Well, this qualifies as trigger warning too. But the MMC hits the FMC and hurts her. He's also verbally violent to her.
I fail to understand how this is life changing or heartbreaking. Or how this is supposed to be...

I'd like to know whose clever idea was to include the scene of Helena giving birth..and this is related to the war and the supposed overall plot because......?????
This is like the most anticlimactic and uninspired ending I have ever read.
Sorry to those of you who like this book, but this is trash.
Let's keep fanfiction into the fanfiction department, ok?

My dear friends, we made it. Almost there.
Part 3 is just pretty much of the same. Same recycled scenes over and over. Maybe some people like pregnancy tropes, but I loathe them. Specially when it's a forced one like in this book.
The writing keeps being atrocious. The guts some have to compare this to Tolkien or Rothfuss. People, inhaling fungi is bad for your health. LOL.

At 83%, almost 1000 pages, and here it is (at last) the plot twist that has fans of the author on the fence. Although I get where they're coming from, I don't think they fully understand how twisted this story is. And the reason why I disagree strongly with the way Senlinyu decided to portray this story.
I'll dive deeper about this on my review. Stay tuned.

Part 2 completed. Finally. It's been 84 years. LOL.
Part 3, I'm coming for you. Just a little bit more. We're almost there.

You gotta be kidding me that there's people swooning over this guy Ferron. C'mon. He's a huge walking red flag. He's super controlling and hella possessive. How is this supposed to be romantic? The world's gone mad.

I'm kinda side eyeing the people falling for these characters. No shade. But, the overly possessive broody alpha male is kinda cliche at this point. Fuc####, saying "you're mine" like a psycho, and literally killing innocent people to "keep the FMC safe"....are walking red flags to me.

At 65% (almost 810 pages), and given recent events, I think I'm starting to get the whole picture about this story, and I'm not liking it one bit, how it tries to play with your mind, making up excuses to justify what's unjustifiable.
Someone's past traumas doesn't give them free pass to harm others. Just my two tips.

Please, tell me you didn´t go there, making him the one to save her. Don´t be so bloody obvious. I´m begging you to be smarter than this.

I’m only like 9% in and I don’t know if I can give this a chance. Rape and violence against weaker is not ‘life changing’ or ‘heartbreaking’ it makes me want to vomit. Not only against women, but any weaker person, male or female.
@AnYou're absolutely right. Me neither. I can't stand with the normalization of any kind of violence towards any being. I just can't stomach that. I've said woman because that's the scene I've just read. And I'm furious.
But, overall, from what I've read so far, he's an extremely violent man. And also a mass murderer. There's a scene where he kills a whole innocent famili just with his bare hands. There were children and he killed them by breaking their neck. And people are making excuses like he's a victim, when he's not. And it's making me nauseous how can you be so insensitive. How can you be so blind over a fictional character and not see how vicious he is.
Has the world gone mad? Or have we become so used to everyday violence that now we're just insensibilized against it? I'm an empath and for the life of me, I can't excuse stuff like this for any reason.
My question stands how could Penguin published this? There is no reason at all to publish a fanfic to begin with (not saying fanfic writers can’t write something of their own and become a new published author) but a rip off and romanticization of r*pe and making it seems like it’s in some sense excuse-able made me feel sick. Penguin is not even broke, so greedy
Omg 😦 well I am not sure now if that is for me …I can tak “dark” per say but usually having problem with violence from MMC …
Marquise wrote: "Oh, no... it's sounding more and more like a collection of tropes I hate. :("Sadly, it is. But I guess that's to be expected, given that this is just a reworked fanfiction. Knowing you and how we seem to agree on our reviews, I know right off the bat that this might not be for you.
In typical fanfiction fashion, it is full of tropes and easy melodrama. It tries to go for the emotional punch, you know? It's like the stuff you might find in soap operas or telenovelas. It tries (hard) to paint itself as serious stuff, but, actually it's not.
Isadora (tbr is too big) wrote: "How is stuff like this allowed to be printed 😭"Sadly, money. They're profiting from a well-established fandom that will go to all lengths to buy and rate this book higher than what it really deserves. So far, I can already tell that this book is nowhere near its 4,56 avg Goodreads rating. That's coming from fans who are bombing it with 5-star ratings, which is itself a problem, because they're misleading average readers into reading something I'm 99% sure will not be of their liking.
If you're not yourself into fanfics or Dramione ships, I hardly doubt you might enjoy this. Besides its very problematic issues, the book is not an easy read, not because the prose is overly complicated, but because it's very repetitive. The vibe I'm getting is like a big endless loop, because each scene is like a deja vu of one another. When it's not borderline repetition, it's overly lengthy descriptions of worldbuilding. To me, that does not make a book a masterpiece.

They don't care, 'cause from what I've seen, the fandom doesn't seem to care. They go to all extremes to justify the MMC's actions. But the thing is, the more I read, the less justifiable he is.
They can come up with any excuse they want, but it doesn't change the fact that whatever happened, it was rape. But the book is going the extra mile trying to make up excuses for his behavior, playing it like he's the victim, when he's not. He was fully conscious of his acts, so he is responsible for what he did.
It's not even pla

I detract stars instantly when I see stuff like this romanticized. It's the kind of stuff you can't joke about. And it shows a lack of empathy towards all the women who suffer and have suffered from this.

How are we ok with romanticizing not only rape, but also violence against a woman? I'm raging 😡
